Can-Am in summer 2008

Post by Zoran »

Hi everybody,

I would like to know is there an interest in organizing one more Can-Am cruise in summer 2008. Since Dwain organized one in San Juan's, In 2005 we had a cruise in Golf Islands and San Juan's I am thinking that it is time for one more in 2008. We can go again in San Juans or Golf Islands but I would like it to be in Desolation Sound.
We discussed this at he meeting of MYCBC (Macgregor Yacht Club of British Columbia) and our members are willing to help with planning and organization if there is enough interest. Many of our members been there and know the waters well.
My only suggestion is that should be completely from either side of the border since boarder crossing in the middle of the cruise can be pain if you still have a food or drinks on board. Each country have a regulation what you cannot bring over.

Sounds interesting for sure; are you looking at meeting/launching up there, or a long run from down south?

It all depends of what you guys want. At this point it is only idea that few of us would like to realize. I would personally prefer Desolation Sound. There is a possibility to start from Vancouver and I am planning to do that. It is 2-3 days trip. There is also a possibility to took ferry and launch on Vancouver Island and have only short day trip on the water. I guess that all depends how much time will each participant have. We have to calculate in travel time on the road for many that are arriving from South or East. Traditionally we should have a good stretch of weather in last week of July and first week of August. Right now I would like to know if there is enough interest in something like this and than we can work details on destination and possible routes later. If you are interested please specify desired destination.

Thanks, Zoran
