MacGregor 19'? (1969)

Post by HapG »

I just bought a 1969 MacGregor, hull # 969. The previous owner told me it was a Mac 19'. However, the only Mac 19 I find on the web is the 1990's model. Got it for quite a bargan, but needs some TLC and parts.

lol, can anyone tell me what I have?

thanks

Hmmm..I scanned Wikipedia but that didnt have date information back to 1969 that would help you...the Venture Forum on this Board might have some folks who know the history here better than I though - perhaps you can cross post over there??

On edit - Im a dumba** ...I meant to cross post on the Main Board and got my sheets in a tangle...

You're right, the Mac 19 was first built in the 90s.
If he gave you the correct model year, your new boat's a Venture 17 or Venture 21.

Herman Wadler's website is a terrific resource~!! (thx Herm!)

In that date range, sounds like a 17? Maybe a 21. Does it have a white hull with a blue top? That was the standard for the 17. Nice little boat. I've owned one for about 22 years and just moved to a 26X. You could try measuring the length.

Thanks guys, I measured it (what a thought), it's 21'.

Again, thanks for all the replies.

I have a Mac 26S (89), sailed it from Florida to the US Virgin Islands - GREAT trip. Got this one at quite a bargin, but needs some TLC.
