What happens to the stuff in YOUR boat when it heels 45 ?

What happens to the stuff in YOUR boat when it heels 45 ?
The stuff in your galley, in the storage bins, the coolers, (the tools ?)
anything else not bolted down
Is it retained or restrained, or does it end up on the cabin floor.
How about at 60 degrees momentarily, if you have managed to stay on the boat yourself ?
Does everything have a secure place for hard heeling, even if it usually is set out lubber-style ?

We're pretty good about having things secured. After a while when the same things keep falling out we figure out a different way to secure. We have netting we can put things in, hooks to hang a camera, gps, handheld, etc. Also have hooks in the head for clothing and foul weather gear. Can holders are a must. Heavier things--tools, screw kits, etc.-we keep under the seats and have them arranged so they don't slide much. It's better to not have them sliding around so they provide a more stable ballast.

For all of the above who responded, GOOD FOR YOU! You're tidy, neat, and well prepared.

We don't have all that much in the boat, and whatever is there, isn't breakable, soooo, it just sits on the table. That is until it ends up on the floor with a THUMP.

What is disappointing at those times when we do heel at 45+, is that since I am at the helm, I can't go below deck and look out our ports. I want to see if there are fishes looking back. Just like Captain Nemo in the Nautilus.

We are pretty tidy, except, umm the porta potti seems to like to flying.
velcro install is ridiculous...straps are coming

I have a permanent head in the boat... with good seals, and tanks, pumps, lectrasan, macerator and everythign else well strapped down,

But,

Doesnt really matter how you slice it......the person who is most careful... abou tkeeping things packed and stowed.......is always the one who has to keep it clean.

My passengers and crew do not understand the limitations of a small boat,

and it doesnt matter whether it is the ski/fishing/sailing/kayak/dinghy, etc

The don't get it until something precious to them is smashed, lost overboard or soaked or all 3 together..

oh yeah
and do not listen when I so often take the opportunity to remind them.

We are in the "not quite as tidy crowd", and when she rolls the thud is usually my son rolling off the cushion and into the head, since the floor is littered with all manner of discarded clothing, beverage containers, food wrappers and reading materials, it follows in quick sucession, his profanity, my wife's outrage at his language, his futile attempt to deny everything and my duck and cover.

Sidebar note. I've laid my boat nearly flat on its side and my "Suitcase porta potti" has never spilled. I tend to keep the slider shut and it seals well.
