Will you be needing to launch park or stay at my marina at White Rocks? Send me a pm if I can help.
TFlight AKA Tony, D'Lei
Thanks for the offer Tony. Looking at the map, we may reduce our stay at Sailing Emporium to just the 12th, 13th, and 14th for the sail, and stay at White Rocks from the 9th through 12th, because it'll take 3 hours a day of driving off going to all the DC monuments. I'll PM you.
Mastreb, there is one rule at White Rocks Marina for Muck About attendees...Once you've docked in your assigned slip you should report to E pier, slip 53, you will then drink a Yuengling or 3 or a Rum based drink(s). Sorry it's the rules...Well you can even get by with a bottle of water if need be...

Hey all you MUCKers,

The MUCKAbout is a month away, Friday July 12th.
Don't forget to make your reservation at the Sail Emporium for Saturday night.
I just spent the night this past weekend at Heart Miller Island. Good news Bad news; The bad news is the

mosquitoes ate me up. I must admitt I was not prepared and forgot my bug repellent. We also had standing water from all the rain days previous and not a breeze that evening which probably mad it worse. The good news is, the bites don't itch and hopefully a breeze, some drying conditions and bug repellent will make a big difference.

Bring your bug repellent!

The beach area was still very nice the water temperature was 74.5 degrees and on the rise. Remember there is a bathroom on the island but it's a composting toilet and there's no running water so come prepared.
I have two large bags of charcoal and lighter fluid but haven't decided what dish we'll bring to share.
Bruce and Lesley, those baked beans were good last year, hint, hint.

Hey Victor, have you heard if Erik or any of the NC group is coming up?

For MUCKAbout info & details I am trying to keep the 1st post, pg1 up to date.

You may want to check the option at the bottom of the screen to be notified when a reply is posted in order to stay informed.
Soon I will start collecting data for the roster or just get it from NSA lol. I have email addresses for most of those that attended last year. So far I we have 7 boats that I'm aware of and maybe 2 transient one night or less.

We will be there. We won't be able to launch before Friday afternoon but hope to meet up with everyone at the island.
Are we beaching at the island or do we need to bring a dinghy?

See the 1st post there should be a link to the online NOAA charst or look up Active Captain online activecaptain.com. This is from Annapolis to just north of Baltimore.
NOAA CHART # 12273 Chesapeake Bay Sandy Point to Susquehanna River.

No dinghy needed Ron, if you don't mind walking through 3 ft of water. It's very soft sand gently sloped bottom from 5-3 ft to the breakwater then about 3-0 ft to the beach. Tide change is only about 1.5 ft.

So Ron are you launching from SPTP on Fri with the group?

I always beach when I go there. Although, those like Tony who anchor get less sand in the boat.

MUCKAbout reminder July 12 - 14th 2013

Okay only 7 boats signed up so far at the Sail Emporium Marina for Saturday Night.
Remember my 1st post has a lot of info on it and a few links. If launching from SPSP (Sandy Point State Park) for the first time look over the info and my photobucket pictures have notes attached also about parking, launching, navigating the channel up by HMI......
FOOD

I'm still working on the pool side cook-out Saturday at the marina. If the group gets too large we may have to use the picnic area near by on the property. I'm also trying to arrange what and how much food to pickup from the Rock Hall grocery store. I'd like to keep it simple and sum-what basic, food suggestions are welcome. I thought we could throw together a menu list, and a few of us could go retrieve it then just split the bill among the group. It sounds like a nice small town store that will prepare some foods, platters, salads ect... and they will provide a free shuttle service.

We're on our way! Left San Diego Wednesday morning, first stop St. George UT for the evening at my Mom's, then on to Salt Lake City. No issues as yet! I'm going to start a separate travelog thread so as not to spam this one.

Have a safe trip. Remember to check the temperature of your bearings every couple of hours and walk around the rig to make sure eveyrything looks secure.
