Slow Day today with boats...
Managed to find time to start on the upgrades to the venture
Installed the "New" VHF radio
New Masthead light and wind spinner...I put my old lake mast light on the oday...works, but this one is nicer
And I don't know if I ever posted this photo before here...I did on FB to my friends/family but think I forgot to post it here...
I couldn't find a naked mermaid for the front, so I used this
Also you see why we call it the "Pirate Ship"
Cheers mates
Dave

Nah...the Admiral will not be putting her Boosums (sp?) up there for sure
Besides the Skull and Crossbones fits the motif of the Pirate ship
And no Sh*t, I am putting a Cannon on the front spar. Already started to fabricate it....will be able to let off blackpowder shots for smoke and noise (no projectiles) yet also be able to launch off mortars (we get in SC where they are legal) out of it as well for doing warning shots across the bow.
I'm serious too, it will have a cannon....you wait
Cheers

Dave,
You need to meet fellow North Carolinian Erik and the Pirate Fest.

That is cool Russ
I plan to put a cannon similar on the front of Venture23....not so sure about the side ones though
Meanwhile I got the Brand new bimini top from the crackboat installed on the venture
And the New Compass is installed (it lights up red...so cool)
The mount for my Garmin GPS system arrived today (at the wife's office) and when she gets back around noon I'll be installing the GPS system
Weather permitting...might rain today
Cheers
Dave

Ahh I wondered
I thought that was what it was called....had one in a 4x4 rig
I just figured it had a "fancy name" as its on a sailboat...

Nope - even on a sailboat, "oh s***" happens

So a fellow on the Venture Yahoo group whom lives in my town had a tree fall on his Boat in a storm.
I bought the sails from him. But asked for the Galley after he was done stripping it out.
He gave it to me a couple days ago. I am going to use it as a pattern and make one out of better wood
Cheers

Dave, This is Reno or dullblade, I'm in dc, and I'm trying to find find out if you are taking apart the other venture, the one buzz had the tree fall on. Can you let me know if anything else is available. Could use a rudder and some other things and maybe could run down to where you are, if you and buzz are taking the other venture apart. Still reading what you are doing and I have to say I'm a little envious. I am well behind you in my retro-fit.

As Far as i know he is finished.
I bought his sails. I am not sure what he did with the rest of it or what is left.
I have decided we are NOT going to use this galley pattern..it immediately made the boat seem cramped inside.
If you want that I am happy to give it to you....
I do have an extra Rudder, but it is not from a venture23, but from that 27 bayliner Buccaneer...I don't see any reason why you couldn't trim it down to size and use it. you'd have to come get it. I'd like to get $20 for that.
If you're down this way feel free to stop by. I am usually always home.
I have stripped down 2 over 25 ft boats so I have a lot of stuff.
Now you see why I post this thread here. I prefer this style of Bulletin board. Everything stays in one thread, and with photos, and is a searchable index.
Yahoo is worthless...
Start your own thread, use photobucket for the pics, and lets see your boat!
They all laughed at my "lake mast " too
Cheers
Dave
