Hi Russ!

Great video!
Thank you!
Several good ideas, especially the heavy braided rope for cat reboards!

A/C installed and operational.
Really Take’s the edge off the heat and big drop in humidity. Photos to follow separately.

While packing for trip we got frustrated with our “ad-hoc” collection of containers that really didn’t make good use of the space or hold what we needed to bring….. :x
So we went to Lowes and got a new coordinated set like we had been planning on for next year. Early 🎄 Christmas!

Packing should complete tomorrow.
Departure Sunday!
Just hope the weather works out as there are a couple named storms to contend with that are going to intrude on our planned route.

ETA at Lake Champlain…. Aug 28 TBD :o :) 8)

:( :( Sadly, we have to return to Philadelphia between Aug 26-Sept 6, so it looks like we may miss you here on the lake.

Hi Kmclemore!

Ok. We understand :( :( .
The heat, humidity, and weather are conspiring against our hoped for earlier departure. :? :?
Henri had his fun with us earlier and is now playing with the Northeast.
He must have a little sisters following in his footsteps as we have had some really good thunder ⛈⛈⛈ bumpers the past several days and are expected to have another today starting about Noon. :? :? The past couple have been real “frog 🐸 chokers” !!!

We are planning now on extending our stay at Lake Champlain into the month of September.
While it will probably be still too early for viewing the Fall 🍁🍁🍁 Colors from the Lake ⛵️ by the last of September the change in scenery (and weather) should be welcome.

Maybe there is an opportunity to meet up after the Labor Day Holiday?🤔🙂🤔🙂

If the weather gives us a break Over Easy should be packed and ready for departure today 🙄🙄.
Whether the weather lets us cast off today is another matter…😜😜.

Hi SVScott

Thanks for the complement and encouragements!🙂🙂
The A/C works good in the driveway so far!
It has made the pre-trip clean-up and organizing a lot more comfortable than it would have been otherwise!🙂🙂
The lack of insulation in our Mac26X top deck can be a challenge for the A/C unit though.
Our solution is the addition of a “sun shade” across the top deck between the lifelines.
As the canvas maker we had contacted earlier this summer for a deck canvas cover is still backlogged we are temporarily going to use a large white sheet and clips to hold it to the lifelines. It made a difference! (For the time the sun was out and it wasn’t raining ☔️!🙄🙄
Given this opportunity to test this out we will be modifying the canvas order to add in a longer length and eyes to fit the station posts.
Lemonade from lemons 🍋🙂🙂!!!

Best Regards,
Over Easy

Indeed. We expect to be back up here at the lake by Sept 8th and very likely through Sept 17th. Then we’re off to take our 1953 MG TD for some vintage racing in Ohio.

In other news, our Mac is finally now on the lake (I recommissioned it this year after many years in storage) and joins our other boat, a 2018 Tahoe 550TF ski boat, at Barcombs Marina in Rouses Point. Fortunately we were able to get adjoining slips.

(And yes, that is our MG on the quay as well. We are enjoying driving it here in the gentle north country for a while. As my youngest son said to us recently, “Wow, you guys are doing retirement right!”)

Hi All!

We finally got a break in the weather, finished our preparations and launched from the driveway on our 2021 road trip north! (It was at 10 PM :| :| on Monday night (08/23/21) but we finally cleared the driveway :D :D )

Given the late departure we didn’t aim far! Just two hours north to a really nice RV park, Plametto Shores in Summerton SC, we found on our initial trip South with Over Easy. Nice facilities with easy pull-thru sites.

Temperature was in the mid 80s and humidity near saturation when we arrived at just after midnight! Everything around was dripping with condensation.

We are REALLY REALLY REALLY glad we installed the A/C system! It quickly cooled down and dehumidified the interior of Over Easy. Almost too well as it became rather chilly within the first hour and we had to set the temperature at 74F to avoid shivering! This was a REALLY appreciated Mod by everyone including not just the Admiralty but also by the auxiliary crew (cat & dog)!

After a quick regroup and maybe a spot of breakfast we we be continuing our 2021 Northbound journey. So far so good!

Hi Kmclemore!
Wow! Two boats side by side! Nice! :) :)
Glad you were able to get you Mac26X recommissioned!

Yes, the timing for after Labor Day sounds great to meet up!

The vintage racing sounds neat! You’ll have a blast! Especially in that beautifully restored Iconic MG!

Best Regards,

Looks great Kevin.

We have a guy in our marina with 2 boats side by side. A classic wood powerboat and a small Catalina.

The bow candy and the MG in the background completes the photo. :)

I like "bow candy". When I bought my :macx: my wife informed me that her job on the boat was "trophy wife".

Well, Wife© liked the “bow candy” moniker... after all, it beats the heck out of “rail meat”.

I am still trying to work up the courage to ask for a “peaches” shot, though.

Hi All!

It’s night 2 of the Northern Journey of 2021!
Little bit of a late start from Plametto Shores (Darn alarm clock kept shutting off! :o 8) :D :D :D  )

We pulled into Prince William Forest near Fredericksburg VA at about 10:30 PM (08/22/21) after about 500 miles up Hwy 95. Weather was clear but hot. Upwards of 95F for most of the day. Currently hovering at about 77F. Much nicer and maybe 80% humidity outside. Inside it’s close to 72F and a fraction of the humidity with the help of our A/C mod after only a half hour! We REALLY REALLY REALLY like this mod!

Prince William Forest is a great campground with paved pull-thru sites, picnic tables, fire 🔥 ring, electric, water, etc… Really neat and clean with friendly people! Late checkin are no problem. Nite patrol came by to say Hi and asked if we needed anything. Great people!

Location is great with lots of miles of hiking. It is maybe 30 minutes from DC so can provide a good base to visit the museums and other sights to see. We will be back another time to take it all in!😎😎

There is a highly modified Mac26M in the Plametto boat storage we saw here last Fall on our way down on 2020. Someone really made several substantial modifications over what appears to be several years. Not an exper by any means but many of the mods seem to give the impression to be for Blue Water sailing. Palmetto staff didn’t know much about it other than it has been lain up for several years. Distinctive feature is that there is bottom paint up to the rub rail. There has to be a story there…🤔

A great landmark at the SC/NC border is a quirky theme park known as South of the Border with the worlds highest and largest Sombrero! :o :D 8)

Time to have a pair of cool glasses of wine and another comfortable night’s sleep. Tomorrow we head to NJ to camp in my wife’s best friend’s driveway. They have been best friends since before they were teenagers! :) :)

Having our Mac26X to camp in really is nice and is providing great opportunities to visit friends and still be responsible and considerate while still following proper COVID-19 Social Distancing Protocols. :) :) :) :)

Best Regards,

Hi All!

Day 3 of our Northern 2021 Journey consisted of little over 300 mile from Prince William Forest 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳 up to North Central NJ to visit with the Admiral’s oldest and best friend. She and her husband are two of the most kind and considerate people in the world 🌎 :) :) They are fantastic!

Camping in their driveway tonight in the midst of suburbia! :D :D

Temp dropped to the low 80s F with humidity in the low 80% range again. A/C is best mod ever!!! We are REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciating it!

Glad we have our Mac26X to camp in given the Covid-19 crisis. Everyone has been fully vaccinated which is a relief and considerate for each other’s safety and well being.

Tomorrow we travel on to Lake Champlain (Burlington VT —> Mallets Bay) via NH where we have some minor personal business stuff to take care of. Travel distance is on the order of 500 to 550 miles.

Best Regards,
Over Easy

PS:
Just had a bit of a medical emergency with the Admiral’s friend!!! :o :? :? :o
She had an episode of extreme leg cramps and became very dizzy in the middle of the night!!!
Her husband called EMS and is currently enroute to the hospital. Tomorrow’s departure may be TBD until we know more….. Thoughts and Prayers Appreciated!!! :| :|
