I'd be interested in using this system, but for a great comparison, I think I'd make some runs with sails and power, recording parameters, then the next day, (hopefully same conditions) run a Smart Rail on one side only!

When tacking under sail this should give a good idea if it causes any drag, or squirrelly handling characteristics etc.

It surely looks like it should work, and provide a drier ride, but ya never know unless you go about a comparo in a scientific manner IMHO.

In the worst case scenerio, it would provide drag as force from the waves are not only deflected away, but in the process, acting as a barrier causing increased resistance of moving through the water.

Again, if someone is installing these, I'd like to see if my theory is correct!

I am truly not being negative on these, but wonder IF they may cause a down side also to be drier....it sure sounds good though!
