I ordered 4 replacements last Tues., and they arrived on the Thurs.. I installed them today as per Duane's method. The only thing I added was covering the back side of the circuit board with 3 overlapping strips of electricians tape to shield the soldered connections to the 1156 connector pigtail *just incase*. It was a daylight install, so don't know how they'll compare at night time till this weekend.

Thanks for the real world amp specs, Duane. I wonder how long till my kids figure out conserving juice is *not* part of the early lights out curfew?

Regards,
Shane

Just to add to the reference pile:

I just bought these for interior replacements from http://www.ledlight.com

For the standard issue replacements and for some cage-lights I have added:
http://www.ledlight.com/s25-12-smt-side ... light.aspx (with the 90º orientation)

and for another shaded light fixture that I'm installing:
http://www.ledlight.com/s25-12-smt-tower-led-light.aspx

I got e'm all in warm white with the 1156 bases. (Don't trust the ugly green color in the second links picture for warm white - it's not right). I am super-happy with these lights. At first I thought they were almost too bright, but they're not. They have a color like a halogen - really nice. Only 240mA vs. 1.5 amps incandescent. i didn't think I could get excited about a light bulb - but these are really great.

Cheers,

~Bob

My experience with LED's is that in low temperature conditions they *really* get dim - in fact, when it's really cold they may not come on at all! I have one light (over the galley) with an LED panel, but the one over the dinette I've kept as incandescent. The LED's are just a wee bit too dim for my taste.

I bought the item here (#1156):

Not sure about cold conditions, but the reason I bought the ones I did was the higher lumen output than the ones at Superbright (140 vs. 92). They are definitely brighter than the original incandesents.

The speck sheet calls for 1156-PBC-WWHP9

If you click on order the 1156-PBC-WHP9 you can choose between Warm White and Blue White
I ordered two of each and have already switched them over. They may not be quite as bright as the factory ones but I think they'll do just fine, I like them so far. I have not gone out to see how bright they are in the cold though, but I will this weekend. I got them a couple months back and tried them, don't recall they were all that dull. If they save on battery power that's all I care.
