Hello All,

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make this trip to Catalina. I'm hopeful that we can go several other times this summer.

It seems that the boats in MDR will be available by the end of this week, so we should be back on the water very soon.

Finn,

Too Bad!

Please keep in touch as there will be several other opportunities to get together at Two Harbors this season. It's still pretty early in the season. Hope you, and your family, are doing well.

Hope to see you on the water shortly.

Dennis

Sorry, I must bow out of the April trip (or is it stern out?) I looked forward to it. Perhaps we could set the third weekend each month as a regular MacTrip?

Looks like many have had plans change.
We won't be able to make the 17 April trip now either.
Standing by for the next one.

Irayone,

The Admiral and I are still planning to go. We'll trailer to Marina Del Rey and set up the boat on Thursday, April 16th. We'll stay overnight at a guest slip at Chase Park and leave for Two Harbors between 7:30 and 8:00 A.M. on Friday.

We'll return to MDR on Sunday morning.

These plans are not absolute and assume fair sailing/motoring conditions. Fog and/or small craft warnings will change things.

Based upon his latest post, it appears that Timmy Z plans to be at Two Harbors on Thursday.

Are you interested?

See you at the string line.

What a weekend, great weather in paradise, good food, fine new friends, what else could a Mac owner ask for? I left Oceanside around 9:30 Thursday morning. Four foot swells and little to no wind. Not bad, I ran the trusty 50hp Tohatsu (1995) around 4000 RPM getting 10 kts. Around the 50 mile mark the sea became very choppy and windy. I slowed down and was very happy to round Bird rock and enter Isthmus harbor. After I was settled in, glass of wine in hand, all was well. The next day Dennis and Margret arrived and I rowed over to introduce myself. We had dinner that evening at the restaurant and got to know each other by sharing boating experiences. The next day in perfect skies I hiked north a few miles, and when I got back to T L Sea I actually took a nap. Sunday morning at 6:30 I thanked the harbor master for a fine weekend and headed south on my 58 mile trip back to Oceanside. No wind, pretty flat seas, I was averaging 13 kts again at 4000 RPM. At the 26 mile mark just after I was contemplating writing Tohatsu about their great engines, it decided to throw a rod. Lucky we own sailboats. I raised my sails and continued under sunny skies, and 10 kt wind. After a while I raised my cursing spinnaker and was happily averaging 5 kts. I arrived in Oceanside just after 6:00 pm. It was a great weekend by turned out to be very expensive. Any suggestions on an engine replacement?

Tim,

We had a great time! Thanks for coming.

It was indeed a pleasure to meet you, and to get to know about you. We look foreward to sailing with you again, anytime!

The weather at the island was ideal, and we too took a couple of hikes to view the coves around the village of Two Harbors.

We encountered a large bank of moderate fog on the return. Some ships were using fog horns, which we could hear in the distance.

Sorry about your outboard. The factory recommends the Evinrude 60 HP E-tec. I'd check it out.

When you come to our house, I can show you the new aluminum trailer, (which may require a few small mods to fit an X), as well as our E-tec. Hope to see you shortly.

Take care,

Dennis

Hey my wife and I just bought a 2005 26M and we're having it shipped down from the Seattle area sometime in the next few weeks. Its been a few years since we've been out but we're otherwise experienced sailors and look forward to meeting other MacGregor owners and getting out to Catalina. Sounds like we're not alone. Are there firm dates yet for a rendezvous at Two Harbors (or anywhere else for that matter?).
