Respectfully disagree. Maritime law is not new, and taking people on a boat for hire is a serious business.
Sorry did I miss something, might be due to my limited English

? I didn´t see that Bastonjock intended to take money for the ride, I aggree with You in this case it´s a different thing.

Yup. What he said. Anytime you take someone off shore for money, you are ultimately responsible for returning them to shore in the approximate state of health they were in upon departure. Very serious!
I seem to recall back in Aug 08 when Matt (Bastonjock) took me out in his boat. I was in fine health when we left. I was miserable and about 10 pounds lighter (due to severe puking...) when we came back.
What is the statute of limitations on legal action for this "state of health they were in upon departure" that Scott mentioned....
Just kidding Matt...when do we go out again...no fish n' chips this time.
Cheers,
Jim

You being miserable is a state of mind. Doesn't hold muster.
As for the 10# lighter what you seem to be saying is that in fact you were in better shape upon your return to shore. Is this an attempt to settle up with him and pay him more money now that your guilt for shorting him has caught up with you?
You prob didn't bring any beer either!

nice one scott

love that answer, then perhaps Jim has just given me a great Idea for a business

there are thousands of ladys out there wanting to loose weight fast,i could feed them fish and chips and head out to a bumpy sea,Guaranteed weight loss
i could also sell the chum to the anglers and make it pay two ways

I can see that now, a couple of ladies sitting on the bow, holding on to the railing with their heads over the side and an angler with two rods out from each side of the cockpit. 4 hour morning and afternoon trips - avg 3 days a week depending upon weather with a high school kid on contract to clean up the boat between runs. That 6 pack license is starting to look good again. In these hard times one must begin to think outside the box. Just need to add safety harnesses hooked to the anchor well eyebolt.

Yeah, you can name the boat something nice and classy... how about using a Roman reference... the "HMS Vomitorium"?*
(*Actually, a misnomer - in Rome these were the exits for the stadium, not a place for tossing cookies.)

I suppose that is a little classier than HMS Gag'n'Snag.

going back to the original subject,

HMS Vomitron or gag and snag

the only problem with renaming the boat is that ill have to go through that ritual to neptune.
The guy asked me again today so im taking him down to see the boat,im still not committed to doing it,but i dont see why i should pay out a couple of hundred to deck my boat out,so if i do do it ive explained that the brides dad will have to drop off a box full of flowers and pink and white ribbons flags etc,i dont mind standing the 50 bucks for the gas but for these guys to hire a rolls for an hour or so would cost them.
also i wonder if jim has an old set of dress whites that would fit me
or does anyone have a spare Admirals hat? i dont think that my fancy dress pirates suit would go with the brides dress

Sparker alright...and that's not me..just the same I was a sparker too! The last 6 months on board ..they put me in the galley washing dishes, that's where I got addicted to tots when pusser rhum was still a HMCS tradition, and told me that way they would be sure I forgot all the cipher codes. They were right .. I subsequenly worked for the USAF and they were much more civilized prior to my release.

I was released from HMCN when the daily issue of Pusser Rhum was stopped in 1970...the 'Black Day'.
