To the engineers out there,Does my tarp looks like it will support the snow load properly? I Know already.....

I plan to head out and reinforce where I can...
support the mast mid deck with some wood and also inflate some pool pillows on the deck:

It'll be fine. We got 24" a few weeks ago. Same setup. I went to check on it and just dumped the snow that built up.

More importantly, do you have enough milk, eggs and bread to get through the next day?

Russ, I am sure it will be fine....worst case ...the tarp will rip .... I will still update tomorrow just for the fun of it and the fact that we will be snowed in and bored.......

Well, Matt, we live within a few miles of each other and my boat is tarped the same way... so if yours goes, so does mine!

I do the same thing for winter storage & try to make the tarp as tight as possible. I usually pull the snow off with a push broom. If snow pockets on the tarp, just push it up from underneath. In the past, I have taken the time to lace spider webs in the spaces between support bows. The trick is to get the lines so tight that it doesn't sag under load. It can be a PITA to rig before the tarp goes on, let alone after. I haven't done that for several winters now and haven't had problems in big storms. Just check it frequently!

Well it looks like the tarp will survive...after 9" have fallen this is the view of the boat without even heading out to clear the cover....

I feel pretty comfortable that it will hold up till the end of the storm.... we are about 2/3 through it so far.... they predict 12"-18"

I want to move back to one of these Eastern snowy freezing places so I can have these problems like you guys

20 degrees F (-6 C), 3 inches of snow and ice and my son says, "I want to camp in the boat"...

Considering we camp year-round in thin Coleman tents with no electricity with our scout troop even in ice, snow and below zero (F), this is positively luxurious! With a No-tilt electric heater at one end, dehumidifier at the other. He's trying out the dining table berth and I'm giving the aft double a go. The Admiral does not do cold, she's from Arizona.

Of course, Galactica is nestled snuggly in the barn.

I live here in Juneau Alaska. We get a lot of moisture during the winter, both rain and snow and our temperatures will hover from 20 to -10. I store Mental Floss wrapped up outside. I have the heater Slamjammer showed and I also have three Dry-Z-Air containers inside the boat. I check them once a month and usually have no more than 1/2 inch of water in their containers. I also put a low wattage light inside that runs 24X7. I am not sure I really need the light but one of my other "boat friends" recommended it. It's nice and dry inside and no clammy feeling. Now that it's the winter solstice I am counting the days until I can unwrap her and get back out on the water.

All this talk of cold weather got me thinking.

So here is what we are doing this holiday season. With water temps of 28C (85F) and air temps above 30C.

I knew there was a reason I fell in love with Australia so many years ago.

we were hit by an uncustomary snow fall,i went down to the boat to check it and it is covered in snow,I will pop down tommorrow to brush it all off and to compound matters,the Enviromental Agency has fully oppened al of the sluice gates so the river can drop and raise by 4ft in a day.

We have sun and 45 deg F with no wind to speak of for Christmas. Even the heater in our M is not even turning on it is so warm. Bah Humbug.

I love the Ausi Christmas video tunes but I think I would like it cooler.
