Sailing in Virginia or Maybe Maryland...

My thinking is that König is NOT a "she".

1. König does not complain that it is too hot or too cold when I take him out.
2. König does not nag me about the way I sail.
3. König does not start to whine when I stay out and make him "work" for many hours.
4. König does not give me a hard time when I have to leave him by himself for several days, weeks, months...or unfortunately in my case...years.

Thus König is obviously a "he" and not a "she"...

If others want to refer to their boat as a "she" to stick with naval/maritime tradition then more power to them.

Sailing on König

I just figured it out. Boats should not be named after people weather male or female but dogs. Female or male one doesn't matter personality matches. Well at least one of mine it fits perfectly, the other one natural state is sleeping. As for my wifes little Maltese well the if you name a boat after him it would be called spoiled.

When you're in Camas, you'll only be about 3 hours down river from us, Jim. There are a few members in the Portland/Vancouver area, but if you want to go for a sail in the desert and see some of Eastern Oregon/Washington, let me know. Saturdays and Sundays are best, but I can get a day off in the middle of the week, unless I am cutting, or baling hay. Feel free to PM, email me and welcome back.

Thanks for the offer but me thinks the family would be mildly upset if I abandoned them to go sailing while out here. But someday I hope I can get out here and explore the sailing areas.

We drove to Mt. St. Helens yesterday...beautiful day...visibility was excellent. The River here at Camas looks very inviting.

Sailing on König

After 13.5 hours of driving yesterday Konig is now parked at the Fort Belvoir Marina right next to a slow blue

The 650 mile trip went great...much easier than I feared. I guess I have become gun shy on these longer trips after reading various posts on the issues others of you have faced.

But all is well. Move into the house on 3 Aug and hope to get the boat over to the house for a BIG cleaning/polishing and a few small repair/upgrade jobs later in Aug.
