After I bent the first spreader on the lifelines I started unpinning them to bungy to the mast for trailering, I believe I got that tip on this board a long time ago. Solved the problem of bending on the lifelines, but then one day one of the stays slipped in the clamp probably as I was repinning the spreaders. I didn't catch it and it bent the spreader slightly, but enough to replace. I think I'll try Duane's suggestion now. Would also help when i launch my inflatable kayak from the deck.
