Those are awesome videos Highlander. You can come sailing with me anytime and since I do have a working auto-pilot we can both drink beer. However just like in those videos you have to wear pants.

As has been said, it's all a matter of what you find enjoyable. I like a 15 knot breeze as much as the next guy, but I do enjoy 35 knots just as much. It is very different sailing, the type that most admirals don't like. If you enjoy being challenged in a man vs. nature sort of way, than you will enjoy sailing in 35 knots. It's a rough, wet ride and you'll feel like you got quite a workout, but it sure is a blast! The Mac, if properly equipped and properly tuned and most importantly, properly sailed can take high winds. If you sail in the heavy stuff regularly, however, you will soon start to want a larger, beefier, more stable boat. Ultimately, this is why I sold my

By now you hopefully figured out that the answer to your question is pretty much whatever within reason you are comfortable with. In the heavier stuff, prepare to get wet. Go out and experiment. Just be safe.

Just with the rough stuff especially when it is cold don't expect to be out in it longer than 4 hours. The Mac is real corky and will wear on you. Having a warm fire, good Admiral, stiff drink, and a lazy-boy chair waiting at home makes for a great end to great day sailing in cold rough conditions.

OK so yesterday we (me and the Admiral) moved the boat from its moorage just North of Sidney B.C. to our backyard. We motored out to Sidney spit and snagged a mooring buoy for lunch then sailed off for a few hrs. Light wind, don't know the speed, 5 to 10 was forecast. I think 5 most likely. Then dropped the sails and ballast and into the local boat ramp, up on the trailer and off to home .
-first time out
-first mooring buoy
-first docking
-first time lowering the mast 2 hrs
things I learned
- don't lower mast for first time in the dark
-I have muscles that are not happy this morning (Admiral too)
but nobody died. As we sailed along Tracy says to me 'this will be great in the summer'.
but for now its tinker time, first mod the Captains seat I've seen a couple of mods in mod section that give more footroom can't decide which one but something's got to change.
Now i look out my kitchen window and think HOLY CR*P there is a big boat in my yard!

Yes I saw them and even made one of them my background on this computer she did an awesome job. Now as for me going next year to Pirate Sail that all depends where I am living and where I am working.
