I always travel with a couple of cheap nylon tarps when we go bush, the cheapest we can get, you never know when you have to setup a privacy screen for a makeshift loo area if you are in a big group, make a wind barrier, cover a picnic table then the weather turns, etc ... or our Jarcat all I did was take the 3 poles from one of our dome tents bent them in an arch to be held in place by some electrical tube clamps, stitched two of the tarps together and threw it over the poles, the Jarcat's boom was far too low to use as a support.Captain Jim wrote:What size cover (tarp) works best for boom tent on a?
Thanks,
Jim

For 'Imagine' we'll get some more poles from a Mate who manages a camping store and make a dedicated boom tent ... if possible we might try to have the boom tent integrated into the sailpack .. that's got me thinking, anyone seen a boom tent/sailpack combined? Anyone?
Knowing how to use scissors and a sewing machine is a skill everyone should learn, other handy skills are fibreglassing, welding, woodwork and DC electrical repair.
