I've got a Nature's Head. Both work on the same principle. Separating the solids and liquid... using peat moss for the solids. My wife thought the price was a bit steep. But since I was the one taking care of cleaning the head when we returned, I got to make the call. Now she's a believer as well. No smell what so ever.

It's worth the extra money. Too many people with big, expensive head set-ups have you putting your used TP in the trash so it won't clog the system (YUCK!), the sloshing chemicals, pump-out, deodorizer that smells worse than what it's deodorizing. Seems to me there is no trade off for a system that never smells and can never leak.

I delivered a 32 footer fom Lorraine via Cleveland, Geneva, Ashtabula, Erie, Dunkirk a few years back...l make that a decade actually....

Erie has the most amazing natural harbor, but it's shallow (as in less than our draft ) in places.

The Greats are essentially filled with hydrochloric acid until June, if you sink and don't have an immersion suit....not applicable to Macs. File daily flat plan with a competent party.

I bought an AirHead at the Chicago Strictly Sail Show last January. I'm planning to go on part of the Trailer Sailors Assoc. North Channel Cruise this July. The owner of the company said the head meets both US and Canadian regs.

I keep my boat on a plug in a river. It was a hassle to drag the porta-potty out of the boat, up the hill, and into the bathroom in the city park every time it needed emptying. I thought of installing a head with a holding tank, but after I figured out the installation costs, lost storage room, and the cost/hassle of having to go over 2 miles to dump it, I decided the cost for the AirHead wasn't that bad.

fishheadbarandgrill, how did you install the vent and power? I'm trying to decide between connecting it to the battery using a solar panel to keep the battery charged, or going with a solar vent.

I connected my fan to the lighting circuit. One of these days I'll put it on it's own circuit. I also have a 12V transformer for use when on shore power or at the house. I vent through the skylight with a mushroom vent...
