Horray!

Sounds a lot like last year (not a bad thing, we had a blast). My only issue is that my wife got sick as a dog on the offshore leg last year. If we're going offshore she's informed me that I will be in search of a new crew. I guess we could always split off and do both legs on the ICW, but I really enjoyed the outside trip back. Guess I'll have a decision to make. Either way, count me in for one of the ten spots in St. Augustine.

Ormonddude: don't worry about launching, last year there were several of us launching and retrieving together, you should have more than enough help and advice.

Glad to hear you will make it, I have added your name to the list.
Staying on the ICW won't be an issue as several boats that were not comfortable going offshore stayed on the ICW last year, that might be an option for Ormonddude too.

Sorry to say Compromise cannot make it this year.

We spent our vacation days on time with our last kid at home and on several closer sailing trips.

We really had a great time last year.

Maybe next time.

As some of you may already know, I will not be able to attend this years JMGT. Unfortunately I will be in San Francisco for the next three months on a travel assignment. Sometimes even I have to lower the Jolly Roger and act like an adult.

Fortunately Mark (Markh1f) has agreed to continue the tradition. Mark, along with Phil and Jim, has been an integral part of the creation and planning of the JMGT since it's beginning. His years of sailing experience and in depth knowledge of the local waters will prove to be invaluable for all newcomers and JMGT veterans alike.

If there are any crews monitoring this thread that are still unsure about whether or not to attend, please do. As I have said before, NE Floridas sailing grounds are some of the most beautiful you will see. The ICW grants easy access to coastal sailing while providing safe passage between ports if the weather doesn't cooperate.

The first night at Ft. George beach is exactly why we own our MacGregors. Pull up the boards, beach your boat and enjoy one of the most amazing sunsets you will ever see. The color of the sky over the ICW at sunset can not be found anywhere else. There is something incredibly rewarding about sitting on a beach full of Macs and watching the moon and the stars.

St. Augustine has been a sailors haven for almost 450 years and a JMGT port of call twice before. The city offers visitors of all ages something to do. Whether its the historic Castillo de San Marcos, a walking ghost tour or a leisurely stroll through historic downtown shops and restaurants, you will not be disappointed.

I will be monitoring the event via your FB and Board posts. As always, if I can help in anyway please do not hesitate to ask. I wish you all fair winds and following seas...

I just bought an M a few months ago and st, augustine is my home port. i will do my best to contact, and or join you while you are in town. i own a bar in st augustine beach and labor day weekend is quite busy as you may imagine, so it will be difficult to join you that weekend, but if any of you want to take a group out to the beach i have a friend who is a cab driver and very reasaonable , Island Rides Bruce at Night (904)325-0171 or Jenn days (904)599-7116 and the name of my place is Jacks Bar B Que. Cindy from Santa Maria and I have been friends for years she can head you in the right direction. if i dont get to meet any of you i wish you happy and safe sailing and maybe i can make it next year

We're hoping to have the boat in the water this Fall, so maybe next year's JMGT will be a good one for us to join you up there in South Georgia!

Do you get any of the older (non-power-sailer) boats like what we have? Does any part of your plan include WOT planing (in which we could not participate) or does it typically stay at hull speed? Just wondering...and thanks!

We do all the route planning at 5 knots so you should not have any problem getting to where we are going, not saying some people won't step on it at times but your S will out sail all the X & Ms so we may need the high speed motoring to catch up with you...
We had a 26S with us last year that seemed to have a great time. Hope to see you next year.

my boats in good shape but the issue i have fuel capacity ,i have only carried a 6 gallon and a 3 gallon tanks ...have thought about going with 12 gallon tanks under the cockpit seats ???? how nay gallons would u advise fot this trip ,i have a later model johnson 2 stroke 40 horse ,,,,???doessnt seem to be bad on fuel ???

I carry a 12 & 6 for a total of 18 gallons which I feel is plenty. If we are going on the inter-coastal we would be mostly motoring and it is a total of 38 miles from Ft George to St. Augustine but there is a marina in Jacksonville beach about 15 miles from Ft. George so it is really a question of how fast you want to run which which will determine how much gas you burn. There are also Marinas with gas in both St.Augustine & Mayport so we will be able to fill up before heading off shore which is about 32 miles. If we are heading offshore we would only go if the wind was favorable for sailing so fuel should not be an issue but I would fill up before leaving just to be safe.
I think it would be doable with the 9 gallons you carry but to have some margin of error I would replace your 3 gallon tank with at least a 6 gallon tank.
