If you've only looked at a 26M cockpit, you owe it to yourself to look at a 26X. While it isn't as roomy as the C250's 6" wider beam permits, the X's cockpit is roomier than the M's, especially at the sole, and it has the handy "back porch" as well as much more room between the boat and motor for boarding over the stern.

:D my wife and i first learned to sail at windsong sailing acad, lake lanier,ga on a hunter 28,it was a nice boat but stuck in that lake, later we took lessons at st. augustine sailing,on a old pearson 30 and a later model pearson 303,during the time we took lessons we owned a mirage 5.5 a really inexpensive boat,,the mirage had the carpeted walls and required you to back way into the water, rear wheels submerged(not a good idea),after visiting several boat shows, tampa, atlanta the boss lady decided that my next boat would be the :macx: she likes the rear entrance(not climbing over the sides),the spacious head, the dinette that lets her see out of the cabin(when raining)the great headroom for her(5'2"),the lack of maintance, and the little bit faster speed when she wants to head in(only been allowed to run wot with ballast empty 1 time),,me i like having a boat that i can use because the mate will come with me,,P.S. she thinks that i sail at the speed i do just so she can troll behind the boat(what luck),,,Whatever you do just get a boat and get on the water 8)

If I bought a larger and deeper boat I would have to make slip payments and spend a lot to maintain the bottom. For all this, I might have to sell the house and move aboard. I prefer to live in the house.

If I win the lottery, I am going to shop for one of the vessels you come across in the magazine down at the dentist's office. I'll also get a bigger house for all my stuff, and a better looking car. The kind of things my survivors can either use, sell, or give to charity.

However, my young daughter offered me some insight into this predicament. She was serious and wondered why I giggled.

She lives in a humble $750K shelter on a triangular lot, the front of which is just wide enough to have a driveway. One storey stucco, 3 bm, 2 bath old place that would make a good starter upper in a Toledo suburb.

She points out across the bay at St. Pete Beach to the majestic palaces that have been put up and says, "You just have to learn to be satisfied with what you have and not feel bad or jealous about others having such nice places."

Lets face it. Howard Hughes would not have popped for a Mac. The point is we are limited and dont want to give up our other good stuff. So what.
