I think I read that it is too late to stop the carp from getting into the great lakes because they have been found in them already!

I've tried the local carp (what ever species that it is) and it is good. Large flakes of meat.

At the east end of Lake Erie it's safe to eat common carp (the now indigenous species) up to twice a week, if they aren't too big. In some areas at the west end of Lake Erie, pesticide/ mercury levels can make the larger ones not recommended to eat.
I've not seen any test results of the flesh yet, but the Asian Carp, low on the food chain, looks to be low in contaminants. If you can't beat 'em, eat 'em

. People have been injured, at least one killed that I recall, by these jumping fish

.
This time of year the common carp are spawning here, and they are so dense in groups of hundreds on top of each other that their fins protrude from the water. I've never tasted it (only because I've not had the opportunity), but the local Chinese love them – they fish right off the beach in front of my house, surprisingly with some success, even though fish don't usually bite while spawning.
I guess these fishermen just don't know that the way to get Carpasians is with phazers on stun.

Give the homeless & welfare an Asian Carp and they'll eat for a day. Teach the homeless & welfare to fish for Asian Carp...
