I'll be do the exact same thing this weekend on my 96x.
What exactly did you buy?

Also I am researching ways to attach the rope to the centerboard.

I have heard of some use rope, some use original shackle and clevis pin, some buy a new pendant.

I HAVE TO replace my 1/4 rope UNDERWATER with something more durable.

Any suggestions. Thanks.

and 4200 to seal everything back up. Was cheap, 16' for $27 shipped. Same thing they use for winches. Used the old rope to pull the new one through then tied the same knot off and all done.

Where on the website is the 1/4 inch AMSTEEL 16' for $27.00?
Just order a hank of Amsteel from WestMarine just Order 18' - 20 ' of the Silver/gray @ $1.35 a foot and be done with it - thats less than $25.00
WideSpreadSailing the attachment on my boat was just a fitted bolt of a standard size there is a cut away for it to enter the holder, So if the bolt is in bad shape replace it if its OK its up to you reuse it anyway here is the link again - http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... fbJaW1-6KJ

I have NOTHING except the "centerboard". Do you have any other hardware that connects the board to the rope. Currently I have the rope run through the hole with a figure 8 knot. Guessing their is a better system... Any recommendations for hardware to be purchased (with sizes.)
Thanks.

My understanding is at some point they had a cable rhode that connected to a rope. Mine just has a rope passed through the board with a stop knot of your choice that will fit in the trunk without rubbing. The cable is probably more reliable, but I've seen stories of it making grooves in the trunk.

The Dyneema is stronger than steel as for the bolt its about a 1/4" shaft with like 3/8 head weasure the hole and the width of your board and simply attach to that by running the bolt through a splice with a washer to help retain the rope and your done. I would love to give you exact specs on the bolt and such but I am not going to pull my center board for you. This is not Super Science its a pivot bolt.

Got a question while we are on the subject ,
My keel line goes straight to the keel , passes thru the hole and is knotted . That's the way it was when I bought the boat , and I recently replaced it just as I found it .
I have a 2000 X

A buddy of mine showed me how is keel line is wire rope from the keel to the foot of the mast then ties to rope .
His is about a 97 X

Was mine modified and the wire rope eliminated ? Or was that a change they made in 2000 ?

They did away with the wire as it didnt add much strength and was very abrasive to the board and tube.
