I tried to view your picture with my i-Pod, but couldn't :( Waited all day until I finally was home so I could see it on my lap top. Worth the wait. Next time post on Photobuckett :P That I can view on my i-Pod :D

Ray
Thanks Ray

That's the Island of Lanai in the background.
It occurs to me that in Hawaii they call a balcony (or a patio) a Lanai, so I could say I was sitting on the Lanai photographing Lanai 8) :o

Everyone else..... nice pictures getting posted. You guys are making my day. Been outside giving "Three Sheets" a good scrubbing today. Then I gave the whole boat the Penetrol treatment. Getting old, I guess..... hands are so sore I can barely type.

Tom......... nice boat......... Hunter maybe :?: couldn't zoom enough to see the make.

Keep the cool pics coming everyone  I'm going to go make myself a little drink (might help the hand pain)...... might even drop a little paper umbrella in it, just to keep the theme.

OH! In case anyone wants to see it in person.................
Lahaina Beach Resort, Old Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.......... second floor, beach view room (maybe room 220, but not sure)........... Just tell 'em you want the room on the second floor that is right over the Jacuzzi. (Talk about a room with a view...... Wow :!:  ) Great Pub next door too :)

Very Best Breezes,
Steve K.
Mac 26D "Three Sheets"
and a breeze.... that's all I need....... and this drink...... and this little paper umbrella..... that's all I need..........and maybe 30 minutes in the spa.......... and all those great pics....... yea, that's all I need............ See you all tomorrow

OK Steve- so another connection made- another mystery solved.

I've found that the word “lanai” is common in (and somewhat peculiar to) Florida, (among my circle of Florida-associated friends) where it refers to a screened-in area attached to the house, and often with associated greenery and/or pool. No one from Florida that I asked had any idea of what the word origin was (so it has remained a mystery until now) but the Hawaiian island name (and its use as a balcony there) is a strong contender.

Great timing on that photo, BTW.

Rgds- Brian.

This was taken at Key West off sunset pier. I know no sailboat in the picture but we were down there for our sailing vacation this year so hopefully it counts.

Glad I could clear that up Brian  Yea, I've noticed relatives from Florida use this term. Most of the family is in North Carolina and I can always tell which ones go south for the winter, 'cause they use it too.

More GREAT :!: pics this morning.

Definitely counts....... Sunsets are great :!: When I was in the Navy, I took the Sunrise and Sunset everyday we were at sea (along with about a thousand other pictures.... all lost when an X took them).

It says peace a tranquility all over it...... I wouldn't mind parking in that cove for awhile

They are all great! Lets see some more.
I have one of me and "Three Sheets" I really like. It was taken by my good friend, from his X boat (I was letting him catch up on purpose  ) I may have posted this link before, but here it is.
Great day on Lake Mead...... Must have been October, as that's when I fly the Jolly Roger. Can't see it but there is a little Pirate skeleton, hanging from the opposite spreader too :)

Don't have this posting pics thing down yet. How do I get the thumbnail to show in my post like you guys :?:

This should, likely, be a different topic, but...........
I'm supposed to go up to Mead next Thursday, for a week. I don't think it's going to happen though. All the NPS sites are locked up (National Parks Services). Mead is a National recreation area and is part of the lock down.
Murphy's law comes to mine, since this was going to be only the second time this year I was able to get out on the water.
I'm thinking maybe of going to Havasu, but it is the home of many, many 45 foot 4,000 hp speed boats. Just not sure yet.

Best Breezes,
SK

Here's one of mine for 2013 remembering I just got the sailboat and I am trying to learn how to sail and I took my boat up into northern Canada and into the rocky shield.

Well it was one week of non stop fun and adventure and now whenever I look at this pic I smile :) :macx:

Great shot Starscream - I've wondered if Baskatong was a good place to sail. I'm just a few hours away and would like to take my kids there perhaps next year,
Baskatong IS a great place to sail with the kids, with a couple of caveats. There are several islands with beautiful beaches and the water can get quite warm in July and August, but avoid June and early July because the deerflies are really bad then. Avoid the construction holidays if you can...we were up there at that time this year and ended up being one 47 boats on one of the islands. Lots of people who simply don't care about the environment and leave beer bottles and garbage all over. Jetskis and pontoon boats everywhere.

You can reserve a place at the dock for a few bucks a day from the folks at Pointe a David. They charge a couple of bucks for a parking pass too, and the launch ramp is free but a bit tough to use: it is just sand and no dock beside the launch. The towbeast better be wearing good shoes and have a 4-low option, and make sure the ballast is out when you haul out.

PM me if you want more info. BTW I recommend Lac Simon over Baskatong and I can give you the details...
