Here,s mine made from plexi glass & no issues with strength due to alum flat bar on top sections as re-enforcement

This is the only way to go 2 piece sections I kept my old one so if I ever stored the boat outside in a parked lot
the bottom section can be left in place acts as a back rest & also allows for more safety protection in an following sea

Very nice highlander. What diameter is the plexiglass you have used and what did you use to cut it?
cheers,

Hi Paul I used 1/4" thick plexi glass if u ask for black u will not be able to get it as they actually call the black " Smoked Gray " just a heads up , I wanted to use lexan as it is stronger & more scratch resistant but I was going to have to order it & wait 10 days so said to myself I did the same mod on my :mac19: & it was a one piece 3/16" plexi glass sheet & work fine as it was a smaller board , but I wanted a two piece for the :macm: & knew I should go with 1/4" thick material
the bottom section is re-enforced with two 3/16" or 1/4" alum flat bar that was attached approx 1/4" above the top edge of the bottom section that created a slot for the top section to slide into thus making it water proof joint , the top of the top section was also re-enforced with alum flat bar , u,ll notice I also added a opening port to the top section for ventilation if u link onto the link that ray posted u will get most of the info u need plus lots of pics , I used a plywood cutting blade reversed on the circular saw & bought a special blade for the jigsaw but all the info should be on that link
Hope that helps u out

I use the top edge of the bottom drop board to hold onto while exiting the boat. It had to be very strong so I wanted half inch lexan but that was cost prohibitive.

I notice photobucket is about over the top with ads on thier site, including one that forces me to go to a weppage for, in this case, a car.

I wonder if they know that those ads just annoy the frick out of people but don't encourage them to buy anything?
