So far, we have tried to really evaluate every item we bring on board. Food goes in plastic bins under the forward dinette seat. Extra lines, unused fenders, and unused parts of the dodger go under the aft dinette seat. Spare parts and cleaning stuff under the vee berth. Handheld VHF, ships knife, binoculars, and cell phone fit into a cubby right beside the companionway on the starboard side. Most cooking stuff fits under the sink. Everything else, so far, (except clothing) fits under the other seats on the port side.

The cooler sits in the aft berth or under the dinette table.

I am tall, so we use the aft berth. I do want to put hanging storage for jackets and PDF's in the head. I am also going to make a storage rack for books and charts alongside the dinette. Other than that, I really want to try to keep stuff out of the cabin. Guests have to fit their stuff where they sleep...

We don't do extended cruising so far, so this works for us.
