I love my Mac, but if I had to circunnavigate, I'd definitively choose another boat...

I spent a few hours crewing on a highly regarded racer / cruiser Trailer sailor yesterday as part of the winter race series here.

This thing had 350Kg of lead ballast on a huge drop keel, compared to the Mac she was very tender, I never felt unsafe but it really wasnt a comfortable ride.

She felt marginally faster than the X but unwind, but it was marginal and we did have 3 big blokes on the rail and it did have wizz bang racing sails compared to our 20 year old factory ones and we would never have 3 blokes s rail meat.

Down wind I think the X would sail over the top of it without much problem

I came away so much happier I have a Macgregor

Guy down the street sailed a Buccaneer 26 from Los Angeles to Tahiti. Anyone seen a Buccaneer 26? I wouldn't get too far off shore. But, That's just me. Sailed Freedom from Balboa to Ensenada, 120 mi. Spent a week in the San Juans, British Columbia. Spent a week every year on Catalina. Tahiti is a loooong way. Fair Winds and Full Sails...Old Salt.
