I also really like Navionics. It is also great for passage planning, tides, currents, fuel usage, etc. I like having all that in one place. On the water, I still use my chartplotter as primary. Cellphones are great when they work, but then, when they don't work...... The UK is very funny about huge gaps in 3 or 4G coverage, so you have to make sure you have all needed charts preloaded.

I just spent 3 days in Apalachicola Fl fishing last week. The Navionics app was working 50 miles offshore and accurate compared to a plethora of electronic gear my friends boat had. Stated he would be using it as a backup to his other 2 systems.

I count 7 out of 8 for Navionics, of those who made a recommendation, with 1 for Garmin, but it was more a statement of current use than a recommendation I guess.

I too am interested, but am unclear as to the actual cost for the Boating version with whatever map(s) are needed for my areas. It's hard to get a read on it, especially with the 'free' download and trial, and 'in-app' purchase mention on the iPhone App Store page.
