Ken Cooke is still around. He still lives in Lexington, KY and is involved in an environmental group there and has a current LinkedIn as well. He also has an active Facebook page - indeed, he just posted today. On his Facebook page he has an entry from May 11, 2015 showing photos of his solar installation on his Mac 25, and on Jan 31, 2019 he posted on FB "The Solar Powered Boat you always wanted! I am working on a new solar powered "Sailboat" so need to pass the Solar Pontoon on to a fellow river adventurer."

I would imagine you'd be able to contact him on FB if you're interested.

Would someone mind poking him... maybe he'll rejoin here. I don't Facebook.
I spent way too many years with compartmentalized level security goons probing my arse. Also, too many people getting fired because of what's on their "Facebook". I only share information with people I care about... like you kind people here. :D

I feel a little odd contacting him for a third party, but you could quite easily make a fairly blank FB account and then delete it when finished with it.

Interesting. His post here indicated he’d modified a 26X. Strange that he’d swap to a Mac 25...

Well, did you look at the photos on his FB page? Looks like a 25 to me.

I was looking for a "leisure cruising craft" for an inland river in a deep valley with little or no wind. (Kentucky River)
It had to have an efficient hull design, decent interior space and shallow draft for shoals and bank landings.
Of course the Macgregor X was it.
The Mac 25 wouldn’t be referred to as an X, right?

Here's the photos from his Facebook page. You judge. Does this look like an X to you?

...and this is a screen shot of his FB entry regarding the boat. Still think it's an X?

I doubt he's trying to deceive... just not a Mac connoisseur.
Seriously... he's not a sailor or a go-fast motor cruiser. He's in a totally different world than most all of us.
Thanks for the pictures.

:D :D :D

So highly modified as to turn it into a 25. That boat is not, nor has it ever been, a 26X. There is something amok with this cheesecake.

Clearly, that’s not a 26x. The alternative to the OP simply being wrong about the identity of his boat is that he decided that the 26X wasn’t ideal for his needs, so he swapped out for a Mac 25. That’s where my mind went, which is why I said it was odd that he did such a trade. Since the OP said he traded out the two rudders for electric motors, I think he was talking about a 26x. What he has, now, I dunno.
