I think one of the guys in my Airpark also sails a MAC! So there is actually quite a few of us. I sailed all day today on Lake Tawakoni, it is a massive lake in NE Texas. I had a great time! There was some light white capping, so I’m guessing winds maybe 10-12 out of the SE. the boat did really good, me not so much! I think I need to work on the sail trim quite a bit! But, I had a blast! Maybe we should all get together this spring and have a MAC Day in Texas somewhere? I know I could sure use some pointers on rigging and sailing! Nothing like a group of sailors to bring out the fun, taming the wind! The Texas 200 is interesting but not sure I’m up for it yet. But June is a ways off.
I really like the idea of a Texas round up though!!!

Buck,

The 26 is a quick sailboat, much faster than the :macx: or :macm: . It doesn’t matter whether it’s an “S” with its swing keel, or a “D” with its daggerboard. You have a quick boat.

I must say that I was disappointed with my ability to get the speed out of her yesterday. But I know it’s not the boat, it’s Me, I was trying to sail her like I did my old Cal 25, and she just didn’t respond the same way. Although it was easy to get her started. I’m just going to need lots more practice, hey more time on the water is a good thing! Overall though, I am tickled!

Photo of “Little Wing” yesterday at the ramp on LakeTawakoni. As you can see it is a long ways across this lake! The main part of the lake is 6 miles by 4 miles which makes it a great practice lake. And 58’ deep in this area. It would be a great place for a 20-25 mile race/poker run?

It could be made really interesting, there are a couple bridges on the lake also! Wait that just went from sailing to work! I’m still thinking about it though!

Hi Buck: Just came out of hibernation. Don't thing furling gear has a great effect on tenderness. 25's have a big main. If you think you're over to far just sheet out and spill a little air.
