Not really. Advanced knowledge can be crippling as well as a blessing. We have boats scattered about on grass after every hurricane. Many of them are picked up by crane with straps by guys who aren't remotely concerned, and set back in the water with little to no damage (the very lucky ones). While I would be too afraid to try his method, I think it would probably be fine. I just don't have a good grassy spot to try it.

I would put a lot of blankets on the forks and get several buddies to help re-load it. But, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you read Hart's thread where he picked the boat out of the debris pile that used to be his trailer, and drove his new trailer under it; a forklift might be looking pretty good.

Straps under the boat. Loader forks over the boat lifting with the straps. Basically a sling lift using the loader forks instead of a crane.

When you put it down on the grass with only straps under it, it's probably easy to roll it over to paint the bottom.

A high reach loader would be my preference. But, if you can get over the boat and still lift a foot or so, you could drive the trailer out from under the boat - and move the new one in...
