Opinions on different Head Sails ( Jib or Genoa and other options)

Just a thought, you can get sail with clear panels. Or, like me, you can develop a reputation so that when you go out, everyone else runs for cover.

And I’m not real excited about our current Genoa blocking the view forward, inside mission bay is sometimes quite busy. Is a Jib much better?

I just talked to Todd At Blue water Yachts, he said he is currently developing a top down furling kit for a spinnaker with an extension on the bow for the 26m and 26x. That’s all I know. Sounds like he’s deep in design phase. So I’m going to buy a 5oz jib now and add the furling spinnaker next year if it’s available then.

I like the idea of a furling spinnaker since I do a lot of single-handing. I wonder how that differs from a furling Code Zero.

Like idea of a 2nd roller furling sail. Is the code Zero set expensive?

another reason I,m thinking of maybe going that route if I was changing out my Genny for a Code Zero sail & Code Zero Furler is it,s a pita raising the mast with two hard Furlers although I don,t do it too often , where as the soft Spinnaker & Code Zero Furlers can b raised & lowered with their own dedicated Halyards while the mast is in the raised position & so can b lowered with the Halyard & rolled up into a sail bag when not in use




This is my Drifter on the CDI Spinnaker Furler which now has my cruising spinnaker on it & my Drifter is now attached to My Profurl Spinex 0.9 top down furler

A Profurl Spinex 0.9 top down furler is not cheap I bought mine a few yrs back on sale for about half this price at a boat show & I can,t disclose how I did that !
If u buy a 165or 185 Code Zero with a straight pocketed Luff u can buy a soft code zero/screecher furler as they r cheaper here,s a link as a sample the y r way cheaper half the price of a top down furler . I,d b more likely to go with a code 0 185 as my boat is loaded really heavy & remember Screecher sail has a higher cut clew which might give u better visibility but less sail means less power

I,d b asking them if it can b used on a bottom up code 0 furler with or without a torsion stay on a continuous line as they r way cheaper that sail is not big enough to require a top down furler , nice concept but a sock requires u to go on the Bow to launch & reprieve , I,m lookin for something thats all done from the cockpit I,m not a young buck anymore so lookin ahead to keepin it easy peasy from the cockpit. I do like the concept tho

what 2nd head sail would you recommend if I were to install a jib as my primary head sail on the original roller furling. And what do you think of these bowsprit pole extensions. Unnamed one is BWY setup, says for 26m but I message Todd and he said it will work on 26x (just a B#$%^ch to install) because of the foam flotation/ etc.




I guessed the range of the standard Jib Sail. BTW there was a guy on here that said BWY was Making a 110 Jib set up , but it’s only for the older 26s, d etc. models (like he said it could be)

Highlander, what sails do you have on in these picture? Do you have 3 head sails in the 1 picture

this looks like a good setup. Adjustable, easy to reach to install sail, won't make boat longer at slip (slip fees). Good for trailering. I would make out of 316 stainless steel, I have a bender. I'll have to check the dies I have see radius's sizes I have. Think I have an 1 1/4". Not sure how tight stainless can be bent.



Like this better bow sprit with anchor roller/ ladder
