That would be true if the X deck is parallel to the waterline. The M deck is not. 94 degrees from the mast base is vertical (perpendicular to waterline - zero rake).

But the OP has an X. The manual calls for 94 degrees between the mast and the cabin top. That will be the same on the trailer or water. That makes it real easy for a beginner to measure.

To the contrary, I gather from the OP's response that he had been down that road (reading the manual) to no avail. I was assuming he had not.

I was merely making the point that the deck may, or may not be parallel to the waterline. If the X deck is parallel to the waterline, then 4 degrees rake is correct. On the M it is not. A 94 degree mast/deck angle results in zero actual mast rake (on the water or on the trailer) on the M. Mast rake is based on the true waterline, though - which makes actual mast rake a bit finicky to determine. I agree that the factory setup of 94 degrees from the deck is very straightforward. I just don’t know what actual rake results from setting up this way.
Tomfoolery always said his X mast rake was setup less than the manual recommended to prevent premature roundup.

I'm with you on that. I have no idea and don't really care what the actual rake of my mast is. If I have too much weather helm I'll decrease it, too little and I'll increase it, but for starters set up an X with a 94 degree angle between the cabin top and the mast and see how it works.
I used to tell my employees that it was OK to be flexible regarding procedures if conditions warranted it but you could only be flexible if you had something to "flex" from.
