Oh, that woulda been cool, I always love stopping to chat with other MacSailors!45Plus+ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:26 am Starscream - you sailed/motored right by us in the narrows by Rockland. I would have trotted down to the dock to wave had I known you were going by. As always, your trips and equipment insights are inspiring. My M is on the hard as I have had little time to work on the improvements such as the new steering cable (finally in), the motor quick-disconnect (almost done...lost a part and waiting on replacement from BWY), resplicing nav cables, installing lazy jacks and boom kicker...on the to-do list. I better learn when to stop with the improvements or I will never get in the water. The 2024 season is looking increasingly dubious for me right now.
Glad to help the community with my attempts at mod-documentation. I find that the added bonus of documenting that stuff here is that I can go back and find out what I did when I forget how I did it. A few weeks ago I wanted to remake a cushion, but had no recollection of how to do it, so I went back to my cushion thread and read about the mistakes I made last time so I wouldn't have to make them again. I also pre-emptively ordered the steering upgrade kit from BWYachts a few months ago, in preparation for our Bahamas trip, but I think I've decided not to install it. I saw a comment on FB because it lowers the position of the wheel, it becomes uncomfortable to use, and looking at the current position I realize that I don't want it any lower. Don't think that's an issue with the M.
We turned around before getting to Rockland, with the tail end of hurricane Debbie incoming. Maybe next year we'll do a triangle loop Montreal-Ottawa-Kingston and we stop and say hi.
