that sounds like the efforts of a PO, maybe installed additional wire, and put that insulation/flotation in there.

I would not run line inside the mast because the halyard could twist, knot up, etc. That sounds like a potential for hassle.

im not sure if theres any huge benefit, but i like the look when boats have the internal halyards, and a cover over the lines on the deck looks cool too, with a toddler on board, that one is a thing im looking at.When I think of boats mods I always think the goal is to get as many features while hiding as much clutter as possibe. I like clean looking boats, and someone on this site has an internal outhaul. Im sure its just a matter of time before someone does the same with the halyards. I'd consider it, but only after about 100 other mods.

Seems like this would prevent the ability to lower the mast and trailer it in the prescribed trailering position...at least if the halyards were run aft which is the more important mod IMHO.

Speaking of terms - I prefer blivit which is what the aft area of the cabin generally quickly becomes and what the inside of the mast will be if the foam insulation and moving halyard share the same space for long.

i suppose if someone was to do it, they'd have to take out the foam, and make sure all the bolt threads were covered, also the wiring would have to be looked at to make sure nothing would catch. either that or some kind of conduit would have to be introduced. It would be way more trouble than its worth. i think the only things concerning the mast on my list is a masthead light and a whip antenna with a vane attached to it. maybe a gps antenna, but i'll prolly mount that on the deck somewhere i dont think theres any benefit to mounting it higher, other than getting it out of the way.
