Just curious. How do those of you with small outboards empty your ballast tanks? Do you load your boat on the trailer and empty it when you pull the boat out of the water, or is there some other trick you've come up with?

1999 Mac-X, 50 HP Nissan.......(very satisfied with this amount of Horsepower). Prior boat was a 1992 Mac 26-C with an 8 HP Mercury. AMAZING DIFFERENCE in "GET UP & GO" with FIFTY HORSES

Empty ballast on my X same as on my old 26D.....let it drain on the ramp as you pull out. Enuf time to drain because to get bow close in trailer v-chock, I do Mac bump (drive up ramp afoot or 2, hit brakes, tighten trailer winch) a couple times on the way up the ramp. Try to retreive boat on a cold rainy tuesday AM when nobody is waiting for the ramp.

Changed out a 1997 honda 50 and substituted a 2005 honda 15 w/power
trim and electric start...instead of "chlorox bottle 2" sailing (and i use the term "sailing" lightly) like a chlorox bottle, she is now a
motor/SAILER---a real sailboat !under power w/ballast i can get a little over 8 kts...unbelievable what a difference the weight on the stern can make ...tacks and points like a 26c (had one of those too...also owned an '84 mac 25 and an '87 hunter 34)...i guess it's what YOU want in a boat...

Plus the smaller motor would be easier to get around when you're climbing the ladder out of the water. Man, what a pain! If I gain any more weight, I'm gonna hafta trade the 50 in for a 15 just to be able to get back in the boat
