I originally looked at "S" models but liked the X's anchor locker. That was before I did much of it. After a year I heartily agree with the "don't bother" guys. The last thing I'd want is anchor goo down below in my nice cabin, that stuff's nasty, plus keeping the cabin sealed from leaks is hard enough as it is.
Having the anchor rode in a big aft laz closr at hand like the D &S models would be a feature. Could be rigged several ways, w/anchor forward & rode led to cockpit, or just looped fwd then back to cockpit to anchor in laz. Either way singlehanded anchoring & recovering easier would be easier than my current method on the X.
Pull a line to drop the anchor, or just drop it overboard. Hmmmm...

I used some 4" pvc pipe clamped to the pulput, and a mesh bag for the rode...
the pvc holds the anchor nicely for quick launch.

a milk crate also works well.

Anchor Locker - Use Cockpit Locker

Dear Greg:

I single hand and was out 61 days/nights last year. I use a plastic tub in the cockpit locker to hold my anchors, chain and rode. Anchoring is easy, safe and effective from the cockpit. After the anchor is set, I then run a loop forward and put the loop through the bow ring then cleat off the llop end at the bow. I then return to the cockpit and release the extra rode loop.

This proceedure allows easy anchoring from the cockpit.

Macs love to sail at anchor so when windy I set a drift anchor again from the cockpit with a short rode just to slow sailing at anchor.
