Yes, you do have to put a couple of twists in the sock to keep it from flapping .

i agree. i trailer my X so the purpose of the sock is to protect the furler from dirt when stored in a trailered position.
once i launch, i normally remove completely for the weekend.

if i was a slip renter and kept my X in the water with the furler "up", i would likely prefer the strip.

If you trailer and park in your back yard, get a sock.

If you're pier side and want to zip out, get the UV lining.
