I have a 2004 26M with the steel trailer. I would like to upgrade to the aluminum trail but have been unable to find a sorce. My local dealer says he can only get the trailer with a new boat. Does anyone know how to get just a trailer.
just only a trailer

well I have heard that Kelly Hansen Marine is offering a generic aluminum trailer that is made for the M/X.
Might use the search function above to find prior posts on that subject

After searching quite a bit I ended up replacing the MAC trailer with a new single axle galvanized model made by Road King. The only change I made was I asked for 15" instead of 14" tires, so there's a little more capacity there. It pulls great, doesn't bounce like the old one did when I hit RR tracks, and best of all, was far easier to recover to at the ramp. I used to have to retighten the winch a couple of times to get the bow chock tight. It's slightly longer than the MAC one but I think that's a good thing.
It's got SS disk surge brakes, radials, and is well constructed. Road King dealers are all over Central Florida.
Trailerwise, I'm a happy camper.

Hi Argonaut,
That's good news, as the leaf spring u-bolts on my trailer have just shed a layer and I'm about to replace them with galvanized ones. I'm spending way too much time fighting the rust on this thing.
Which Road King model did you get? {on edit I see you gave a report in an earlier thread, but it'd be great to hear a report on launching / recovering with the new trailer}
On another note I launched at a small local ramp last weekend, a ramp that is much steeper than usual. for the first time ever the boat snubbed up all the way, no need for the Mac bump.

I hesitate to give the model number only because i think they delivered a MAC25 trailer and then adjusted the bunks for my 26.
Best thing is call the factory, here in fla or thereś also one in north carolina, theyĺl tell you what the right model is then you can get a dealer to quote one. The people I talked to were nice and didn´t act like a lot of other places and freak out about it being a sailboat trailer.
All I can say is it was cake compared to what I was used to. It steers great, my boat just slipped off easily, and getting it back on I stopped my F150 a couple of feet above the waterline on the ramp, I payed out like 4 feet of winch web then winched it right to the chock. But it was a low resistance kind of winching, it didn´t feel like i was dragging the boatś weight across the bunks.
Ballast was mostly empty. Most painless retrieval I´ve ever done.
I´ll send pix to an email address if ya want, just send a PM here.
