IIRC ... the prevailing wisdom says no solder on boats. Not sure if the reason is electrolysis, or just vibration. However, I saw a nifty Bernzomatic butane torch at the Depot last week. I think it's called a micro-torch. The little case included a "hot-knife." Said to self, "gotta have!" I was thinking it would be nice for cutting & dressing rope.
NOT ... can't get it hot enough to cut rope, half-inch diam.
