Actually, most went out the door over 200k. At 1mil, the Mac 70 is less than competitors. Much to know about latest technology in large race boats. Remember, when the M65 was designed, it was fastest production sailing yacht made. That is goal now. Not a way to do that with common materials. It will be epoxy, have carbon masts (two) and booms, very deep lead bulb and stainless steel keel, water ballast port and stbd tanks with power pumps to transfer water side to side. The boat will weigh 10,000 lbs less than our present M70. Taking weight out of the boat will cost more that the original boat cost! We have competed against other 60 to 80 foot sailboats for several years now and have faced boats 10,000lbs lighter than us. The masts (we will buy them not make them) will cost more that the list price for the original M65. To buy a new sled is over a mil anywhere. This boat will have more sail area than any of the other sleds, more righting moment, similar weight (maybe a little more). Just a prediction; if anyone wants to beat this boat, spend 10mil or buy one of these and sail it better.

Where can we see a picture of the 70M?
Are there accomodations below, or is it just for going fast around marks?

Photos of the new 70 are much later in the game. But, look at the 26m's brochure and the new boat just has extra mast, otherwise the exterior looks the same. It will be epoxy so will have paint on it not gel coat. Color could be??. Epoxy paints are much glossier than gel coat. The hull mold is already in the building being readied for wax!

Epoxy covered with paint does provide a lot of paint choices...

this would be a great chance to see which is actually faster - Blue or White... you could settle this question for a lot of folks....

Already been settled - - - white is right :P :D :D

Rick :( :macm:

PS I don't want a 70 footer - - - cause i'd have no place to sail it - - - it WOULD, however, I'm sure, attract a LOT of unqualified (who cares?) vegas type showgirl crewmembers 8) :!:

Mike,

I was aware of the pilot house prices...

I was referring to the original 1983/1984, literature

I think it will be harder to blow by some of those andrews designs.....that you might think......;)

I think the move to painted epoxy is a good idea. What is the spar height you guys are designing to. I am already tickling a few bridges over here in puget sound on high tides.

lets see a 97 SC70 is about 650K..........

Ya know....

with pulling the extra weight out...

your **could** find the right trailer for it...

*************

may not be in your game plan - but there are osme real advantage...

FIRST --- it will sell more 26Ms.... and seriously, you could raise the price.. you may have to do this anyway, if I read the "carbon credits" program right...

Second - there are a LOT of places where you DO WANT to get the boat out of the water fast...

You guys are in CALIFORNIA... in TEXAS and on the gulf coast, there are GOOD REASONS to haul and get out of town... look at pictures of the gulf coast after any hurricane...

IT IS A PROFOUNDLY GOOD SELLING POINT TO SAY TO ALL YOUR PROSPECTIVE BUYERS.....

if YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE WATER, we HAVE A STANDARD way of doing it....

Is will sell boats to say this... Anywhere on the TExas - North Carolina Coast... so yes.. there WILL BE buyers "on the bubble" between your 70 and someone else's... if you say "you can get out of the water easy - and down the road..." then you have an advantage....

A BUYER will have this vision of their 1-3 Million boat piled up like cordwood (as happens).. or your boat sitting inland on a trailer...

A SEMI - used - is CHEAP.. and a modified TRAILER is also cheap....

*********************

I do not know if you have noticed as well.... 70 foot slips in Californuia have this waiting list....

Trailer it - and you are set.... If you live in Dana Point - or SoCal - this has to matter.. You GET SALES when others won't.... thats another price increase - for a darn good value....

It is not rocket science to Mod a semi trailer......

********************

have you considered these issues and the economic impact?

there is a value that can be "harvested" for the lighter weight you are already planning......
