Hey, I bet it could be used to make a boarding LADDER from the side. Hmmm....this thing has possibilities.

For the guys who know more about fiberglass than me: Any risk that those suction cups will permanently deform or "bubble" the fiberglass or gelcoat underneath? Because they look pretty damned ideal for a lot of non-safety related stuff if they hold permanently.

Yes, thats exactly what I see as the use. Fix the suction motor mount on before you leave with a security rope attached. Leave the 2HP on the pulpit rail, if not being used, and move it down to the suction transom mount if there are problems with the main motor or if wanting to fix the small motor onto the dingy. A really easy way around a problem that has baffled me for some time now.
Lets face it the only time you would need the small auxillary is if there is no wind and you are needing to get home. Therefore, it would not be rough weather (or you would simply sail) and thus it would be easy enough to fix the motor onto the transom when needed.
The suction idea is great when trying to work out the best location on the transom - beats drilling holes in the wrong place.

Now the search is on to find a source that does not want to charge me $18.98 for the product and $141.06 for the postage

I guess it is manufactured in China and could probably be shipped from Hong Kong to Australia for $10-20
My son recently purhcased a pair of very high qulaity headphones on Ebay from HK for $11.94 (inc postage) and they arrived on the front door step 4 days later - don't know how those guys do it, but they do !

I ordered 20 guitar picks yesterday from China $1.29 including postage! $1 each in the music shop here. I guess I shouldnt bitch about the music shops all closing down....
You could start here
http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/vacuum- ... ifter.html
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/who ... cts&isdl=y
Some of them say minimum order 1000 pieces etc. I used to have a bit of a business importing small electic motors and stuff and I used to email them and ask to get say,, 5 samples, of a product. You pay more but, many of them will do it... You might have to tell a few white lies that you have a business etc, and they usually ask for your Web address so you have to be ready with an excuse (eg, its under construction). Unfortunately, asking for one sample, they probably wont even answer you.

Your not spending your time down there at the Marina with the 'duelling banjos' are you Paul?
The factories obviously put these things out the door for about $5, so its a case of looking for the shortest link in the chain I think.
This crowd, out of the UK, can supply 2 x 2 head models for $7.70 total + $23.13 postage to Australia (they also have a 4 head model, but not the 3 head model - looking at the transom of my boat I suspect the 3 head model would be the best fit)
