Watching Isaac closely and expect it will be out of the area before we get started on the 31st. Also keeping an eye on Joyce but that too should be well clear of Florida by then.

Still On,
It's about an hour to Ft. George from the boat ramp. I will be stopping by the boat ramp by water on my way to Ft.George but haven't settled on a time yet. I'm thinking around 1pm but It depends on when everyone else can make it.

Re: jax mac2012
I just wanted to say that I hope everyone attending this years JMGT has an awesome weekend. I wish I could be there. My boat is sitting high and dry about 7 miles from where everyone will be meeting on Friday and the thought of a fleet of Mac's sailing past my house without me makes me sad. I just checked the weather and it looks like things will be in your favor. Fair winds and following seas to you all. Keep us updated with plenty of pics.

OK here's the link to the pictures:
http://s673.photobucket.com/albums/vv92 ... GT%202012/
Jacksonville provided a weekend of chamber of commerce weather, warm but no rain at all. This years the JMGT started out small (missing our local regulars Jim, John & Phil) and got smaller as we went.
Friday Allons-y!, Easy Come Easy Go & Bahama Bound met up at the Jim King boat ramp and headed to Ft. George to setup on the beach & BBQ. Dual Porpoise & Sea Renity were running late and would try to join us later. Sea Renity did join us at the beach but not until 11:00 PM having survived some adventures getting there and Dual Porpoise made and attempt but we persuaded them to turn back after Sea Renity's problems so they spent the night at the dock. Full moon or not its tricky navigating in the dark and I think they made the right call.
Saturday we all met up back at Jim King boat ramp and Sea Renity retired with an engine warning light, Bahama Bound decided to pull out and trailer the boat to St. Augustine as they thought it would be too much for the kids but they never showed up in St.Augustine. There was not enough wind to sail offshore so Easy Come Easy Go motored down the ICW and then sailed some on the ocean off of St. Augustine, Allons-Y! & Dual Porpoise motored down the ICW stopped for lunch and made St.Augustine Marina by the 4:00 PM opening of the Bridge of Lions. Easy Come Easy Go made the 4:30 opening and after showering we all had a great dinner at the Santa Maria restaurant which sits out over the water and has great views. Also opening hatches to throw bread to the birds & fish which come by the hundreds.
Sunday was a layover in St.Augustine which allowed us to become proper tourist and take in all that St.Augustine has to offer, including the sight seeing tram, historic fort, winery tour and a lot of shopping.
Monday Allons-y! got the 8:00 am Bridge of Lions opening and headed offshore and did some spinnaker sailing but the winds were still light and we ended up motoring most of the way but put up the spinnaker again to have lunch and relax some. It was beautiful offshore with 1 to 2 foot swells coming from behind us, just a little more wind would have been perfect. Dual Porpoise was preparing to leave but was going to take the ICW as they can motor fast (70 HP) and were in a hurry to get back. Easy Come Easy Go were still sleeping when we left but suspect they headed offshore for the run back to Jacksonville.
Hope everyone made it home safely and enjoyed their time at the JMGT!

wow ,boy did we learn alot ,mark and helen were great and did a great job hosting the event ,i cant tell you how much i wish we had stuck to the original plan ,sat. i thought it would be better to pull the boat out and clean it out ,(it was way over packed ...4 massive coolers ,14 blankets ....about 20 stuffed animals ...30 pairs of shoes ...you get the picture ...) we pulled it out cleaned it out and headed to st.aug .i have never seen so many people in st aug in my life ,it was insane trying to find a ramp where we could leave our truck and trailer ,we were pulling our mac through the historic district wishing we had just run down with mark and helen ...i had the saddest two little girls you have ever seen ...they were so disappointed ,i felt terrible ...but we will be prepared for the next one , still hoping to make the pirate sail ...

We went last year and it was our first time anchoring out and we learned a lot as well. Hope to make it to Jaxmac2013.bahama bound wrote:wow ,boy did we learn alot ,mark and helen were great and did a great job hosting the event ,i cant tell you how much i wish we had stuck to the original plan ,sat. i thought it would be better to pull the boat out and clean it out ,(it was way over packed ...4 massive coolers ,14 blankets ....about 20 stuffed animals ...30 pairs of shoes ...you get the picture ...) we pulled it out cleaned it out and headed to st.aug .i have never seen so many people in st aug in my life ,it was insane trying to find a ramp where we could leave our truck and trailer ,we were pulling our mac through the historic district wishing we had just run down with mark and helen ...i had the saddest two little girls you have ever seen ...they were so disappointed ,i felt terrible ...but we will be prepared for the next one , still hoping to make the pirate sail ...
I share your pain with overpacking, we have two toddlers and even though we used to camp out a lot we still overpack. We are down to 2 coolers, one for food and one for drinks, for longer cruises we also have a small cockpit cooler for day drinks (i.e. beer). For the kids we have one beach bag and each kids brings a backpack for books, toys, etc; if it does not fit in one of the bags it does not make the cut. For shoes we added a net under the dinette table; even just two pairs per person means 16 shoes
We will be attending the Pirate fest in NC.
