Please note: there is a big design difference of the forestay deck-tang between the :macx: and the :macm:

Ok but was there a factory spinnaker for the :macx:? and if so where did it hook up, not saying anything factory will be perfect but if it's designed to take the full load of a genoa (or spinnaker) it should handle a spinnaker but my point was with moving the spinnaker point forward it made it easier to fly and tack but it would be better even further forward probably.
The tack line on my spinnaker can be floated well out from the cockpit but once the air drops out of it, it still swings back and sometimes find it's better to go forward to douse with the sock, where if the block was mounted further forward it would be much easier, maybe I should bring the sock lines back to the cockpit to but it's not a problem to go forward and it gets the missus involved in steering.

I solved these problems mind u exspensive :o my Drifter is on a CDI Spinnaker furler but I am going to put the CDI Spinnaker furler onto my cruising Spinnaker & put my 350sqf drifter which is bassically a huge light 3/4 0z Genny which can be sailed on alot more angles onto one of these Profurl Spinex 0.9 Spinnaker Furlers that I just purchased @ the boat show @ 1/3 discount !! :D that took 3 days of bargaining back & forth :) & a return visit to the boat show that was already planned anyway ! :P

So very much looking forward to trying it out , I know this is not an option for alot of people :( but I figure I work hard & play hard & if I can cut throat a deal its in the making ! Guess I'm just lucky Eh !

PS This is apperently the best one on the market top of the line in performance & use

This is what BWY says on its Spinnaker Hardware Kit:

"This is a nice addition to your cruising spinnaker. The kit includes a tack pennant to keep the spinnaker from dragging on the bow rail, and turning blocks to attach to your stern cleats. This helps to insure proper sheeting angles for cruising performance."

Hello,

I have to agree with Windchime. Not an engineer here, just "experienced" :(
My tang bent quite a bit under the sideloads of my asymmetrical in one heavy air occasion. My soultion was to attach a block above the block of the forward hole of the tang on the pushpit and this keeps the load vertically above the tang itself. The sideloads are taken by the pushpit IMO this way. Feel free to correct me. Also have become more cautious and try to douse before being hit by strong gusts, which is somewhat diffciult on Lake Okanagan, with its mountain ranges around. Hope this helps, will try to look for images.

could you post a pic or two? Or even a video of how you rig and use the spinnaker?

I have posted a few vids before, that do not show the tack close up. At this time I was just starting out, not really knowing what I was doing, but you can see the substantial side load "in action":
