Good advise by all - espicially the part about getting the daggerboard just right for the best plane. I was just under there the other day to wax the bottom and the board is up inside a bit. I will get back on my creeper and get all the right adjustments marked out above.

Speaking of which I must commend Clay at the factory (the guy that built all our trailers) for putting a forestay accross the bottom of the trailer to catch the DB. I released the DB last week in preperation to remove it and as I'm slowly lowering the rope expecting to touch ground I hid somthing spongy! I pulled the DB out of the well and down in the hole I saw the wire. I always wondered what the wire on the trailer was for - it's a nice job swedged just like a forestay. Thanks Clay!

I got a Piranha prop this winter and can't wait to try it out. I got 12x9 and 12x11 blades to start with.
Tom, Have you measured the diameter of your prop? With the 12x11 blades the diameter is 11" and with the 12x9 blades it is 11.5"
My original 12.5x8 Michigan prop measures 12.25.

I have a 2009 26m with the Etec 60hp. I don't have any major weight mods, it's usually just two of us, 10gal of water, weekend ice chest and 24 Gal of fuel.
I was thinking about getting a second prop and the Piranha Prop sure has my interest.
I would like to know what props work the best for the Etec 60 on the 26M?
Whitout ballast I have gotten up to 18kts on a calm Chesapeake but usualy 17kts WOT but rpm only peaks at around 5300rpm if i remember right and I think that is a little low. Also i beleve i have a 13.75 x 13 prop, I will have to coferm that when I get home this weekend.
Here are some rough performance numbers I have so far for my setup. Maybe someone can fill in the blanks. Understand I do not have a FF gauge but best estimate using a fuel dipstick and GPS for speed.

Fuel Flow (Ballast empty) 26m ETec 60:
Kts RPM GPH MPG
3Tks 1000
4Kts 1300 0.3gph 13 mpg
5Kts 1600 0.6gph 8 mpg
6Kts 2000 0.8gph 7.5 mpg
7Kts 2700 0.9 gph 7 mpg
8Kts 3200
10Kts 3800 2.5 gph 4.0 mpg
13Kts 4300 3.5 gph 3.7 mpg
14Kts 4500 3.8 gph 3.6 mpg
15Kts 4800 4.5 gph 3.3 mpg
16Kts
17Kts 6.0 gph?

Hello Captain Tom!

Thanks for the stuff about the Piranha. I am going to call them - is it okay if I mention Captain Tom Root when I talk to them? I don't know if they have tested on the M boat yet and as it has a steeper rake I think I will offer 'boat' for service. (Or do you think they already have data on the M?)

Thanks

I'd love to see some kind of list of props/boats

eg:

X/M Motor Size Prop size/blades Max RPM/Speed Salt/Fresh

All this is so confusing. 3 blade 4 blade, Solas, Pirahana. Lots of choices. Normal rules don't apply to the Mac when contacting a prop maker. We don't get on plane fully.
I believe my prop is the correct size for sea level. My DF70 won't go above 4500RPM and I think much of that is altitude. Not enough O2.
So, I'm really wanting to try a smaller prop. The pirana with its changable blades is attractive.

Russ,
My e-tec 60 pushes my bottom painted, fully ballasted :macx: 5,500 rpm, 17kts @ 5,280' in Denver with a 14 X 9 x 3 oem and 5,100 rpm, 14 knts @ 8,300' The boat is lightly loaded, smooth lake surface w/380# of crew weight (2 ppl). I figure equivalent 40 hp @ 8,300' OR 51 hp @5,280'.

Erude wants 5,500/5,700 rpm.

I just checked to confirm, I do have a 3 Blade 13.75 x 13" Prop.
BTW I checked Evenrude web site states ETec 60 2009 Peak RPM to be between 5,500 - 6,000 RPM.

Tom, I see you've got a DF50. I just e-mailed Piranha to find out if they have either a 3 or 4 blade for my DF60A model, which is not shown on their web site. How many blades is your present prop?
I would also buy a Hydrobite if they have one available, which would make my existing aluminum Suzuki spinner into a perfect backup system.

I am just repowering with a SUZ DF60A... I am very interested in what Piranha prop (and hub) you ended up with and what your cruising and top end speed / RPM's with your new prop.

Many thanks for any help and advice!!
