Update to my earlier post.
My question to Tattoo Yachts on trailer parts got answered yesterday. :)
Apparently, they're still monitoring their email accounts. :)

I've seen a couple of these threads about Tattoo Yachts, and I just thought it might be worth mentioning that even though Tattoo Yachts is MacGregor offspring (in several ways), they are NOT "the new MacGregor" and it is both unfair and in poor taste to treat them or have an attitude toward them (company and people) as though they owe the existing MacGregor community anything, including explanations. Now it is obviously good business to capitalize on the previous success she's inherited, and it is fantastic for us that Laura is very kind to us, but the truth is that she is trying to work out the details of her own new business, and any nod our direction should be taken as the gift it is.
Just MHO...

And in my IMHO, I strongly disagree. This website belongs to Heath and he is welcome to do with it obviously as he wishes and I am certainly not aware of any financial agreements he has with Tattoo Yachts, but as long as their company name is on the banner for this website I would think more than a "gift" is needed. I am sure at one point in the future Tattoo will be hoping to sell boats through discussion on this website. For that reason I hope all of us are considered more than "gift receivers", and more as "gospel spreaders" for (hopefully) a new and successful boat company.

Heath is in no way associated, beholding to or linked to MacGregor Yachts or Tattoo Yachts. He receives no financial benefit, no gifts, no nothing. Heath offers this website out of his own generosity and it is supported by his own funds, funds received from classifieds, click-thru sponsor adverts and donations. We are able to use the logo because, quite frankly, I personally asked the nice folks at Tattoo if we could please use it and they agreed, given we have a history of being the best, friendliest, oldest and most active MacGregor forum on the internet. They owe us nothing, and the forum does not stand as a sales or promotion outlet for either company. However, I am grateful when they are able to participate here on the forum as it brings the owners close to the makers and that's always a good thing.

Totally agree with all you say about Heath and the website (as I attempted to state),Kevin. Simply put, do you consider their presence/comments " a gift " though?

Yes, I do... although I'd describe it more as a courtesy. IMHO they have no responsibility to be a presence here or on any of the Mac forums or FB pages, no more than than Toyota folks have a responsibility to be on the Toyota forums/FB pages and Whirlpool folks have to be on the appliance forums/FB pages. If they show up it's nice, but it's certainly not expected.

+1

Tattoo is trying to establish themselves when the low end boat market is contracting. An immense challenge to say the least. I welcome their participation, but also respect that they have way more important things taking up their time.

Exactly, Kevin! A courtesy, not a "gift". It may be semantics, but there is a big difference. It does beg the question however, might it not in the future, potentially increase sales of Tattoo Yachts being on this board as it does Bluewater Yachts being on here (and thank goodness they are). It seems in my web surfing there are more company representatives on boat company ( or marine products) websites than car or washer and dryer websites.... :)

( oh and by the way, there is a Toyota rep on the Prius forum occasionally offering tips and knowledge) :P

I politely disagree, it does not beg the question.

We have no idea what is going behind the scenes, and it is none of our business.

Having A discussion about someone else's business on an open forum is rude. I say this politely. Just because one has the right to say whatever they wish, does not mean what ever topic one chooses is proper.

Also, you ( I mean this in the plural, not at any one in particular)might as well discuss how many angels you can fit on the head of a pin. Once an answer is agreed to, what difference does it make. :) I placed the smiley face there just in case someone thought I was angryly ranting. Nope! I'm am just saying.

In case someone, anyone, takes this personally, please don't. I have no intention of saying anymore on this topic. I am just a one time small business owner.

I certainly do apologize for any business fauxpa I may have comitted! After all these years on various forums, I never realized nor was ever told that it was rude to discuss other peoples company business. I will no longer respond to this thread either and again apologize, also being a small business owner. :|

Howdy folks...I certainly wasn't trying to shut down opinions or free speech here. I just was hoping to keep the business owner's position in perspective, and stir positive enthusiasm for the new boat and company! Nobody appreciates hearing official comments from manufacturers and support service on company forums (of all types) more than I do, but I also know how that can be soured unjustly and unintentionally. I enjoyed the exchange, and also think "a courtesy" better gives the impression I was trying to communicate.

It is interesting how the thread exchange can change! I was just looking for a little word of mouth to help get the last, last one we have, boat sold. By the way, the price is very attractive for a new boat, $43,999! Equipped with our Coastal Cruising Package plus many additional options! Thanks for your help, it would be nice for someone who is dreaming of owning one of these boats new to have the opportunity to get it before they are all gone.

The challenge for any small business is that all electronic media creates an expectation of instant response. If one doesn't get tweeted back in 5 seconds people question if you are " customer focussed"

Getting a manufacturing operation of the ground and into the sea is an incredibly complex undertaking. People doing this don't tweet, and Charlie don't surf...
