https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFP3QA9-5GI. The audio's a little wonky at times, but if you didn't feel great about your new boat already, this should do it.
Thanks for the link. In all my YouTube searching for videos on the 26 Classic, I never saw that one. Good stuff!
When I bought mine the owner still had that video on VHS tape that was given to him when he bought the boat new. I always thought about getting it digitized in a lot better quality for S#!ts and giggles.

Just came in today!
On the flip side, I bought new batteries on Monday. I messed up since the battery compartment was made for size 24 batteries and I bought size 27. It'll be a little extra work to enlarge the battery compartment.

I already do! I installed it today. It really dresses up the cockpit!

It seems like the only logical place to put a compass on a 26S, plus, the original compass was there and the Ritchie filled the existing hole nicely.

Either port or starboard of the hatch

On nice thing about having an AP is that it allows you to sit with your back up against the cabin and stretch your legs out in the cockpit. I like to watch the land get smaller and smaller as I get further and further out to sea - as the land gets dimmer and finally disappears so do all my worries . . . .
If I put instruments there on the cabin, (by the way, it is a very logical place), then I would not be able to lean back there and relax. That's why I have ended up with a wheelhouse that is packed full of all kinds of gauges and switches and buttons and crap:
And I do strongly belive we all need to carry a good magnetic compass and I have one but have not mounted yet because of the very issue I mentioned. I have room left on the pedestal for a wind guage and that's about it.
I think perhaps maybe my compass problem may have been solved by mounting as here in this picture?
Has anyone put one in the cockpit of an M boat here?
Don't they make flat bulkhead mounted compass now also??
