Thanks. I got that notification from eBay today.
I should have updated the thread before...
I found a 1995 for $3500. Without motor.
That's fine as I only want to go slow. I'll put my 8hp Mercury long shaft.

The Mac 19 currently for sale on ebay has a lot of similarities to another Mac 19 that was for sale recently, that were not on the standard Mac 19: mast carriers fore and aft, sliding hatch, ruders, aft gas locker lids removed (it says removable bench seat), clear plastic screw-in ballast tank covers in cabin, hydraulic jack lift plate w/power trim and tilt, etc.
My best guess is that a dealer on the east coast modified both of them.

It's the same boat.
I think it sold for around $7k last time. Someone is just flipping it.
I took some screen grabs of it last time it was on eBay so I can replacate to the sliding hatch on my new 19.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to make the lifting/ tilting hatch cover into a poptop?
I'd like to do both to mine.

That Blue Mac 19 sold again. I like the sliding hatch idea.
Has anyone here done this to theirs? How about a pop top modification?
I'd like to do both and would love some direction.

That's a nice looking boat! Have you picked it up yet?

Great question Jimmy....
I haven't seen it in person yet. I'm in London Ontario and it's in South Western Nova Scotia. (About a 22 hr drive one way.) I've tried to hire two different people to haul it to Ontario for me but they both flaked out at the last minute. So I called the local yacht club and talked to the Rear Commodore and he helped me procure storage for as long as I want or need. So I don't have to worry about where it is or if it is going to disappear.
With Covid 19 happening I can't go into the Eastern Provinces with out a 14 day quarantine. So I'm waiting....
I have a local to the boat ad online looking for someone to tow it for me. I'll see how that does over the winter. A lot of the Eastern population have ties to Ontario so it's just a matter of time before someone realizes that there is free way to get here. (I'll pay fuel costs up to $500)
I did put an ad on Uship.com and the quotes were crazy! $1000-3000.
We have family out East that may be coming this way in March. I may be able to trick one of them into bringing it too.
If all that doesn't work we hope to go out to visit in the summer.... If we can with Covid 19 looming. I'll just get it on the way back home if that works.
It is a good looking boat! Doesn't look like anyone went crazy with the mods. Yet...

Good luck Marty.
Keep up the positive attitude. It will be worth the wait.

I went back and looked at the Mac 19 that sold on 10/13/2020 for $5,500 after 56 bids. It is the same Mac 19 that sold on 12/2/2020 (as Marty said) for $8,000, buy it now, which I thought was interesting, for a 25 year old boat.
The list price for a new Mac 19 was $7,990 + $995 freight to Wisconsin. I only sold one Mac 19, with $926 of options: mast raiser, Genoa, vang, winches, cockpit cushions, etc.
When the original owner wanted to sell it I bought it

Boat prices are stupid right now! I had put one of my Mac 26D's up to trade for a Mac 19 or for sale for $8000 Canadian last fall. (I have a couple.) Covid messed up my repair plans for the other 26D so I ended up sailing the one I was going to sell this summer. I've had lots of interest to buy the Mac 26D. (I really just wanted to trade for a 19.)
Anyway I keep seeing boats for sale on Kijiji.ca asking more than the price paid when they were new! So I raised the price of my boat $7000 to $15000! With an explanation. (I'm not going to sell it for 15. I'm going to go through the list of people and offer it to them chronological for 8k.)
So many old boats at such high prices!

I'm going to keep the ad up until I have the other boat ready to sail.
From my ad I've helped two people get Mac's! One for a 26D and the other a 26X.

That Blue Mac 19 is back on E-bay again.

The "Buyer" probably couldn't get the funds together for it to show up again so quickly. I'm sure the ad is put back up by the last seller.
I like that sliding hatch idea!

I liked his steering set-up without a tiller. And the way the gas locker lids were removed so that you had some leg room, with the bench seat so that you are facing forward.
I don't need a sliding hatch as I can lift my whole hatch up 2', with aluminum crutch tubing into 1" flag pole holders at all 4 corners. It fits under the boom and gives me standing headroom in the cabin.

Hey Bill how do you get your top up? I know that the top is hinged at the front from the factory.
Here is a pic of that blue boats sliding hatch.
I plan to do something similar but will have the whole top pop up as well. Something similar to the 2nd photo.

I'm looking for something similar to the pop-top on my 26D.
Have you got a photo of your set up you can share?
Marty

Hi Marty - I unhinge the top - kind of like me. I don't have a photo and I can't put the top up with the mast down for the winter. See my previous post about how I do it. The tubing is vertical. Send me a private message and I'll send you a photo and diagram in the spring when I get the mast up.
