I used to work with a guy who towed his 28' pontoon boat from town to the lake with a retired cop car Crown Vic. That looked pretty sketchy, but it worked.

I don't know how the legal tow weigths for these car was, but as long as you have automatic gear (old style), it can work easily, (watch for low speeds...). If the legal towing weight was not reached you must say Roger was ling...

I sailed in last years Texas 200. Two of the six day event had 30 knot winds dead down wind runs with gusts over that. With of course sails reefed I achieved 9.2 miles an hr register on my Garmin usually I was averaging 7. Sailing in any higher wind than let’s say 40 or above you sails would rip. I tow with a tundra 4x4 the 4 wheel drive really helps pulling my macx out up the ramp. Don’t think or would want a sedan on some of the slippery ramps on a low tide trying that .

Regarding tow vehicles, my old Ford Ranger, a 2.5l diesel, had no problems pulling my 23ft 200hp speedboat, which at 8ft wide and a steel trailer, was certainly heavier than my Mac 26X.

Biggest issue with that was slowing down, as the boat wanted to push the light truck out of the way.

I currently have a 2.5 liter diesel Toyota Hilux, which doesn't seem to notice the Mac is there, other than the banging and jolts at times. Then again she's been tweaked under the hood, to account for the roof tent, off-road bumpers, winch, side canopy etc. A supercharger and an extra turbo makes quite a difference

Not yet. But it’s on my bucket list.
I’ve outfitted my boat with a few things I think I need to do it though. Running back stays. Skegs and stub keel on the bottom for control down wind. I expect that protected water and a tropical storm will offer the best chance of achieving the goal.

Btw that video of the M in supposedly fifty mph winds is not realistic. I’ve had my boat in 50mph winds and even with two reefs she was on her side.
