Hire a diver and have him scrape the bottom of your boat before you pull it out. It will save you a ton of work. We had our boat in Alamitos Bay for about 2 weeks and were already growing a beard. I got a proffessional bottom scraper surf buddy of mine to go under and scape the hull the day befor I pulled it out. Man, I could not believe how clean he got it. We were done. Just gave her a quick rinse for the seawater.
Apparently the growth hardens as soon as it leaves the water and is a royal pain to get off without exremely caustic, probably illegal chemicals. Last year it took almost two days of constant scrubbing awash in bleach and muriatic acid to get our hull clean after 6 weeks in the water with only one proffessional cleaning. Uhggg!
