Last year in Newport, RI I paid $1350 for the season for a wet slip with water, electricity and a nice dock box - but that was on the Naval Base. Non-Navy friends in town were paying upwards of $210 per foot for similar slips.
Since moving to rochester, NY I've been pretty busy so only looked at one club, but they wanted $6000 to join plus annual dues and a non-trivial fee for a slip, so I passed that one up. I'm bummed to say that it looks like my Mac is going into winter storage without ever having left its' trailer this year

Dang Scott where are you at ???
http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/smithvill ... e_home.htm
Smithville lake, 30 mi north of KC.
The cost of a slip at stockton is substantially less due to drive time from major metros.
In the KC area you have Smithville, Perry and Jacomo.
Smithville is high dollar and fairly small but the only sailing sized lake near to KC. Jacomo is just plain small and has motor size restrictions. Perry is north of lawrence and about an hour and 1/4 drive. They have been raisiing their rates to the point of losing slipholders. Our lake is pretty much there too.
The rest of the lakes in the area are too small for a descent sail.
On edit: We do have 17 miles of awesome paved bike trails and about the same of single track dirt. Other than that its kind of a "Nothing there lake" 1 on the water restaraunt and 2 marinas. Dont go to the eatery if you want service. High on charm, low on service.

Thanks Scott: I am still looking around and am still leaning towards Table Rock Lake for a lake to do things on the water Beside sail and maybe haul it up to Stockton a few times a year. Yours BTW are Chicago(North Point Harbor anyway) Prices and I as floored

We do have friends at other Harbors that are running $5K to $15 K a season . But alas they are NOT working in construction , that's for sure

I've had my slip in Oceanside CA for about 6 years....$9.00 per ft or $234.00 per mo. Water and elect. included
There is a 5 year waiting list for a slip, and if I sold my boat including my slip I could get about 5K more for it.

$27 per foot per year (1 Apr-Oct 31) for slip length, which is registered length minus two feet (24' = $648 for a Mac 26). Has gated floating docks, watchman, restrooms, fuel & pump-out dock, but no electricity and no water on the docks, and no showers or laundry. However, those latter two are in the campground just up the road. You have to "win" a slip for the next five years in the annual lottery in September. After five years, you go back in the lottery.

At bribie Island, Queensland, Australia, 27-28 foot boat, in US$2200/yr.
Good spot. If the Bay is a little rough, then turn to port and use the Passage (very sheltered).
Cheers

It appears that some of you have even more expensive prices (FL and CA as expected) than DC but none of you have the luxury of having pollution attacking your hull from both the water and air. If a private company was polluting like the government wasterwater plants do on the Potomac, the CEO would be in jail. It was estimated last year that the DC government plant alone dump well in excess of a billion gallons of untreated raw sewage into the river during heavy rain events.

Marina Del Rey, CA $299/month (11.50/ft) + elect (averages $7/mth) water is free and security is EXCELLENT! I'm in brand new concrete floating docks in the first Basin (first finger from the ocean entrance (about 12 minute trip to open water from slip under power - - under sail another story - - - have to tack the main channel to the ocean against the wind) Most people motor to the ocean and then sail the Santa Monica Bay - - - or they just tool around in the main channel and never get to the open water. I can sail year round with NO winter interruption.
