The only time the boat+trailer will be around 3500 is when it is stock new with no motor,1 batt, no gass tanks, NO STUFF!! LOL
When I trailer mine, 2 12 gals full of gas, water, 2 anchors+chain/rode, not to mention the big 1600cc Merc 75 4s at almost 400lbs.... the list goes on.
Funny, the longer I have her, the heavier she gets.
Hmmmm, reminds me of something else....

Replaced the original coils with Cargo coils and replaced the original shocks with heavy duty shocks. Will pick up the boat on the 19th of may. Will keep you tuned as to the Buick Lesabre dynaride return !

and feel you should always tow with capacity to spare....
Why would you invest the $ in the boat only to subject yourself to undue stress by towing with a marginal vehicle?
Also the "levelers" do just that and nothing more to increase the tow-ablity of the vehicle their installed on. IMHO

Picked up my mac with the Buick. Dropped Bleu Marin in the Atlantic in Stockton Springs off a ramp , no dock with a little help from the Honda 50 the back tires were in the water but the Buick itself did not touch the water( this was during low tide) four days latter in less than ideal conditions just pulled Bleu Marin ( with a line off the bow cleat ) on to the trailer with just a bit of water touching the tires(this was now high tide).
I towed it over the Appalachian Mountains .

Highway driving was perfect at 55/60 mph. The Cargo Coil springs and heavy duty shocks responded very well. Barely felt the wiggles when passed by the big trucks.
Had no problems with climbing the mountains or descending the mountains ...but the quality of highway 201 was pretty bad at places. Overall I would give this tow vehicle a solid 8.0 on 10 as to its capacity to haul a 26M with a Honda 50 , 6 gallons of gas and two adults in the car.
