John,

Your right about the David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) for the boat's name.

Now I just have to tell my wife about the new Walker Bay dingy (white hull) in the back yard. I'm sure she still thinks it's the old dingy from the Mac 25, so maybe "That old thing? I've had it for years." might work.

Well - She still does not know because the boat is not here yet. I think though she is suspecting that i am having an affair - because I sneak off add odd times and don't tell her I am going to Walmart, or REI, or target to look at junk to fill the boat up with.

I also hide what I am doing on my laptop so that she cannot see me living vicariously through all of you.

The catalogues you all recommended are starting to show up already so i am sure she is getting some clues - as for my plan:

My co-conspirator (father-in-law) has decided to go on vacation this week - so if the boat shows up I will show the admiral without the protection of the in-laws.

The plan is to have the boat moored out in the lake someplace with some food, flowers, and wine, ad maybe pearls on it - even soft music like the greatful dead maybe. 8)

i will drive her to a beach nearby and get the inflatible kayak out of the trunk and tell her i bought us a boat (the kayak) - i wil inflate it with a cigarrette lighter powered blower and then go for a paddle with her. we will turn a corner and then say

"ah look at that boat"
she will say "that beautiful blue hull looks really fast"
"It looks abandoned lets check it out"
as we board her i will say
"the cabin is locked - let me see if one of my keys might work"

then i let her know it is ours and cook up some surf and turf sish ke babs on the new magma

Well Shipmates - the new boat, with the faster blue hull, has arrived in atlanta and is being rigged as we speak. The commisioning of the Admiral is imminent. Probably Saturday night at the latest

I won't be able to sleep till then.
At the end of the day you should tally up the 'true' cost of your Mac

Basic Boat $30K
Slip $2K
Accesories $5K
Tender $2K
Admirals accessories $10K

Keeping the boat and the marriage Priceless

Good luck with the surprise for your wife.
I am very lucky my wife grew up in her dad's 20 ft day sailer (a Highlander) since she was in diapers and she is a competiave sailer and is working on relaxing. She is the one that set up our spiniker and geniker and 3 reef reefing system with some cool fittings from her retired 1955 Highlander day sailor. She also spent her cash for half the 07:macm: purchase. We just got the boat name put on today 'INSPIRATION' 7inch tall and in 1 inch text GALAXEY CLASS STARSHIP / stars / saturn/ moon all around, her idea too, I love it. She says I am the captin and she is the skipper because I set the destination and she sets the sails for the best speed or she does both and I just set around and play folk banjo. If it was my choice I would have named it LUCKY.

How is lake Laneir these days? I started sailing my new 16 ft Hobie there in 1971 and started sailing in 1962.

Bob, make sure to have a full tank of gas. I was so excited when I got my :macm: that I didnt even check the gas. We ran out ten min. after the the first launch. Tell Mark Lusink at Boating Atl. that I said it was his fault. :x :D :D . Good luck. We cant wait to find out what your wife's reaction is.
